Congrats to Texas St for turning things around on the field (and attendance also?). Looks like they should secure a bowl.

Amazing how winning, a fun offense, and hype from a coach, administration, and Ayers really brings out the fans. This was the largest non sellout crowd. The sellouts were against a ranked Houston, Texas Tech for the first eve FBS game, UTSA, and Navy. Really impressive stuff this year both on the field and in the stands.
Next home game is homecoming against Troy. I'd expect another top ten crowd. Win that game and the GS game might sellout.

Makes me wonder if JMU can start overselling SRO tickets like airlines do and play the odds for no shows.
They have enough data to put a number on estimated no shows and could easily sell more than capacity while still having enough general admission seats for people to sit in.
That is the first step before a stadium expansion which is many years away even if they committed to it today.
Step 2 - put temp rental bleachers in the open corner and sell that inventory.

We were actually pleasantly surprised. There was rain everywhere. We usually have a tough time getting a good crowd with any type weather in the area. They showed up Saturday.

The “White Out” crowd at JMU did look good on TV.
JMU hopefully will speed-up its plans to build-out BFS to match the existing side with the upper deck.

RE: Attendance Week 7
I was pleasantly surprised, I went in thinking I'd be happy with a 20k-ish crowd considering the forecast. The weather did end up nice so that helped I'm sure, but still. A lot of our fans travel at least a couple hours so a bad or questionable forecast alone can cause them to cancel their plans to go.
We had some late arrivers, I was slightly guilty myself getting down to my seats during kickoff but many were quite a bit later than that. It completely filled up though, and it stayed full for a while before the score caused it to gradually empty out. ODU and App should both be packed, hopefully UConn will too and we can really show the need to expand.

We didn't report? From the images on TV, I'd say we definitely had no more than 30k.

The GSU athletic site box score has the attendance listed as 0.

I’m tired of these schools inflating numbers like this.

Well that's definitely not more than 30k.

It sure didn't look like 16K on tv, more like 5-6K.
I'm not throwing stones at GSU. After back to back losses Marshalls home crowd for Thursday's nights ESPN matchup with JMU is going to be abysmal.

I hate that people at home judge from the TV broadcast angle of the visiting sideline. We cant help it, the TV booth is on top of the home side.
There was a loud, engaged crowd. We literally couldn't find parking because they were full. Greek and student tailgating was packed outside. There must be a Marshall fan who was actually there in person to confirm this.
You don't have to believe me, check out camera views from the home side.

Just because you pack everyone to one side doesn’t make the attendance any less abysmal.
It sounded pretty quiet on tv and looks like less than 10,000 total.
It’s a shame, you all have a decent team. Deserves bigger crowds

1) Again, you're one of those arguing in bad faith as the game photographer described in his tweet. If you ever visit Center Parc, you will see the homeside is 1000x larger compared to the away side. It's not 50/50.
2) Our TV crew shouldn't filter the crowd noise down to hear the announcers in the glass box booth? I think i'll go with my eardrums especially when the enclosed stadium reverberates sound at the lower level.
