I am a little surprised at that line considering that they took Martin to overtime last week.

Besides the obvious, something that has been really disappointing is the run blocking. We have always been a great rushing team but the holes just aren't there this year

We finally won!! Tried our best to give it up but finally pulled through.
Rushed 5 guys on the last play and the QB had no chance. Took the DC long enough to realize we can't just rush 3 guys over and over again and have success

For the first time this year I don't think this team is good enough to win the conference. Our pass defense just isn't good enough. In fact I think it is one of the worst in all of FCS. Let's see where the problem might be. Out of 122 ranked teams we rank #17 in total offense and #119 in total defense. That says it all.

We're pretty lucky in the conference schedule the rest of the way. Not counting UT-M we have conference games left with Tenn. Tech and Robert Morris who are both pretty bad and a Bryant team that is 3-3. We'll see how good they are this coming week when they go to EIU to play. We're lucky we don't have to play Tenn. St. (4-2) this year as they are much improved.

Why in the world would any team try and run the ball on us. I would just pass every down.

I think it truly stems from our pass rush, going into the EIU game we had 2 sacks all year. Wanting to drop 8 in coverage or have that late LB rush the passer has been awful all year against the pass. Every time I watch and we rush 3 guys the QB has all day to throw and at almost any level of football if you give the QB and receivers time, someone will get open. When we brought 4+ guys against EIU, we were getting to the QB more often and causing him more issues. I remember at one point in the 2nd half it was 2nd and 7, we rushed 4+ guys on both 2nd and 3rd down and gave up nothing. 4th and 7 we rushed 3 and they easily got the first down and went on to score a TD. It was infuriating to watch

It is very rare you should ever rush just 3 guys, maybe occasionally to throw off the offense a bit but for that to be our defensive philosophy while the secondary gets torched over and over again is crazy. Why do we keep doing things that just don't work?
