UTEP plays hard, but things just go against them I think they need a change at head coach

the talking heads said a bit ago "Dimel knows about trying to rally teams down big in games" or something similar to that....not a great endorsement

I have to say, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen a UTEP offense that inept. Running game isn’t bad when they get behind those big fellas up front, but you’ve got to be able to throw the football down field in todays game. I recognize that UTEP is playing on their 4th QB which obviously plays into that as well.

Anyway, glad my AGGIES won this one!

GO AGGIES!!!

It really does suck this game is midweek. It almost guarantees there won’t be any traveling fans from Las Cruces. This game should always be played on a Saturday.

McConnell actually won an FBS game this season unlike Hardison. Its like Adkinson vs Jeanty.

Problem is most of the UTEP players have already given up on Dismel. Its a matter of time when Senter fires him. Most likely won't happen before the end of the season due to buyouts but there has to be a short list going on (hopefully Danny Boy).

UTEP just ain’t that good. Last week was a fluke, sorry but that’s all it was. NMSU as of right now is the better team and showed it. Glad they took care of business. If we can win this next one we’ll be in good shape. But I like the way this team is trending.

Very interesting last five games. Looking back at the Hawai'i and UMass games hurts.

Wow! I guess we’ll really see what the Aggies are made of in the coming weeks.

We need at least one, but just to be safe two, of those games. Not meant as a slight to LaTech but I wonder if that’s the best chance for a W, then maybe MTSU since it’s at home? None of them will be easy…

GO AGGIES!!!

Congrats Aggies. A blowout win in a rivalry game. Hard to take as a Miner fan.

Dimel has to be gone at the end of the season because 2-6 at this point means 2-10 or maybe 3-9 for his 6th season. Unacceptable at any school.

Surprised at the decent crowd of 19.7k on a Wednesday night to see a 2-5 (now 2-6) team. Dimel and UTEP admin doing everything they can to kill off the fan base but it still has a pulse. Two bad coaching hires in a row means they better get it right this time.

I’ll give Dimel credit for at least recruiting FBS caliber players.

The next coach should have an easier job working with Dimel’s recruits (the ones who don’t hit the transfer portal). When Dana was hired in 2018, he dealt with a roster that had no business playing FBS football even if it’s at one of the worst FBS programs in the nation.

It was a solid crowd. I'm hoping NMSU can get to 20K at home as well, without it being a rivalry game. We've got a team that the public should be able to get behind. LC is just a bit fickle when it comes to football. Hopes have been crushed a few too many times.

GO AGGIES!!!

The fan base is still there. But for how long?

If fans are showing up for a Wednesday night game to watch a team that has only won one FBS game so far…….I can’t imagine when they start winning. It might be awhile though.

UTEP needs to win the next four games to be bowl eligible. Hard goal to accomplish when Liberty and Western Kentucky still on the schedule.

If they can play like they did @ FIU, they might finish 3-9. If they play like they did vs NMSU, they have won all they are going to. JMHO

NMSU has shown that a proven coach can take a losing program and turn it around in a hurry. The transfer portal helps in that regard. Texas St and Jax St are also proof that a good coach makes all the difference and quickly. UTEP's last 2 hires have been an NFL position coach with no experience as a HC or OC or DC and then an experienced HC with a losing record in his coaching career and an offense that has a goal of running out the clock after receiving the opening kickoff.

yea he has recruited a lot better and what he took over was a disaster.....Texas State was mentioned above and it reminds me of them and Everett Withers....he landed some recruits and his teams played hard, but when you watched the games there was always some point where things just imploded for a period of time and killed all momentum....I did not think that Spav was the right hire after him, but Spav did leave some talent too and Spav had to put up with the transfer portal and the start of the NIL which has been hard on a lot of G5 programs to navigate especially ones without a history of winning

I think UTEP will get it going sooner than later

At the end of the day though, every CUSA game left on the schedule is winnable. They won't be easy but I wouldn't write us off especailly with how good the offense and even the defense has been playing. This defense is tough to go against because we use 3 different fronts and that's going to drive OC"s crazy.
