Muskie Playoff
Here’s where my 12-team CFP would stand, adjusted for next year’s conference alignment:

Sugar Bowl Bracket:
1 Georgia vs winner of 8 Oregon @ 7 Washington

Fiesta Bowl Bracket:
16 Utah vs winner of 15 Oregon St @ 3 Ohio St

Rose Bowl Bracket:
2 Michigan vs winner of 9 Texas @ 6 Penn St

Orange Bowl Bracket:
4 Florida St vs winner of 10 USC @ 5 Oklahoma

With the next year’s Big 12 not having a strong showing in the polls (mainly due to losses by a handful of teams against schools that won’t be their conference mates next year, top ranked at-large Ohio St gets a favorable path to the semis.

The future Big 10 (5) and SEC (2) dominate the at-larges. Undefeated ACC schools UNC and Louisville evidently haven’t done enough to impress the AP voters.

What are the rules about the PAC holding a CCG with only 2 teams?

Not sure they’d want to. Just schedule OSU/WSU for that week. If they want 13th games, make the matchup exempt.

I’d like to see OSU and WSU play 5 games, 2 home, 2 away, and then play the 5th one at a neutral site.

Like, oh, say, the Rose Bowl 03-wink

Anyway, the Champion should be first one to three wins

Just curious: has the top G5 been written off/out?

I’m working under the assumption that Ore St and Wash St will be with the MWC schools next year, under either the PAC or MWC banner.

My assumption is that Ore St wins the MWC/PAC 12, hence no current G5 in the playoff.

tOSU and Louisville both beat ND, though Louisville's win was much more convincing. They led by double digits for the last 11:12 of the game. How is Louisville 14th and tOSU 3rd? It's stupid. At least the CFP Committee only looks at this year's performance when assigning rankings.

I'm disappointed that WSU lost to UCLA the other day, the odds of one of the 2Pac getting into the CCG are getting lower by the day.

I don’t make the rankings—I merely built a playoff based on where the AP put them.

Regarding Louisville and Ohio St’s wins against ND:

Ohio St won on the road against an undefeated team

Louisville won at home against a team still hung over from their narrow loss.

I don’t mean to take anything away from Louisville (and certainly enjoy watching ND lose) but the Irish played as if Ohio St was still haunting them.

When it comes to rankings systems, my personal preference is taking the aggregate of several computer models rather than the coaches, the press, or ESPN’s 12 hand picked immortals.

RE: Muskie Playoff
For fun. My rankings. My bracket algorithm. 6+6 as constructed with this year's alignment.

FIESTA #1 Oklahoma (#8 Texas vs. #9 Washington)
SUGAR #4 Alabama (#5 Georgia vs. #12 Air Force)

PEACH #2 Ohio St (#7 Penn State vs. #10 Florida St)
ROSE #6 Oregon (#3 Michigan vs. #11 Louisville)

Normally teams would not be put in the same quadrant as their most recent opponent, but it is not the end of the year so I figure that'd be hard to enact in a snapshot like this.
