Men’s Hockey 2023-24
18th ranked NU opened the season Saturday night with a 7-0 win over Stonehill at Matthews Arena.
NU got seven goals from six different players. Freshman goalie Cam Whitehead recorded a shutout stopping just 13 shots. Clarkson transfer F Alex Campbell scored twice.
The Huskies face defending national champion Quinnipiac in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon at Matthews before hosting Bentley next Saturday night Oct. 14. Hopefully Whitehead’s back in goal as Quinnipiac will be a much stiffer test than a Stonehill was.

RE: Men’s Hockey 2023-24
NU dropped another game in OT, losing last night at Providence 2-1.
NU gave a goal in the last minute of the first period but 22 seconds into the 2nd period Gunnarwolfe Fontaine's PP goal tied it at 1-1.
Liam Walsh gave NU a 2-1 lead but the goal was removed for goalie interference.
However just like last week at UMass, they gave up an OT goal for the loss. Freshman goalie Cam Whitehead continues to play well, but he can't carry the load. We have some injuries right now but we have to put more shots on net -- as 9 SHG isn't going to win you a game.
The two teams meet tonight at 7pm at Matthews Arena.

RE: Men’s Hockey 2023-24
NU opened the new year back home this afternoon against 3rd ranked and defending national champs Quinnipiac.
The two teams played to a 3-3 tie, but Quinnipiac won the shootout. The Huskies fought back every time the Bobacats took one-goal leads to tie. NU tied the game in the 3rd period on a short-handed goal, their 7th of the season.
NU is back on the ice Tuesday night at BU.
Highlights... but our bush-league SID can't show the shootout since we lost. Weak.

RE: Men’s Hockey 2023-24
So let's talk about a program that's trending in the right direction...
NU came into their game Friday night at Matthews Arena, winners of 4 of their last 5 games, as they hosted #6 Maine. They kept up the hot streak with a 6-3 win over the Dirty Cubs.
NU has now won 5 of 6 as they get ready for Monday's 71st annual Beanpot at the Garden. The Huskies, who were in dead last at one point in Hockey East, have back-to-back wins over rivals #2 BU and Maine, two teams in the top 10 of the country.
Both Jack Williams and Alex Campbell scored their 14th goals while goalie Cam Whitehead had 37 saves.
NU is tied with UConn for 6th place, 2 points behind UMass for 5th.
