(P.S. One SBC member is an NCAA D-I Women's Basketball National Champion, so if you're playing the historical card, you may want to leave women's NCAA runs out of future conversations).

ODU aside, the Sun Belt does not have much women's basketball history. Toledo has a WNIT Championship and BG also went to the WNIT Final Four last year. UT also beat a Big 12 team in the first round of the NCAA among recent runs by Buffalo and CMU to the Sweet 16... Even with ODU's National Championship (which was when they were members of another conference), the MAC is stronger in WBB.

ODU was a member of the Sun Belt Conference in 1985.

There's an Ohio State fan on reddit that has a gigantic hate boner for the Sun Belt too... I've gotta think this is the same guy. Weirdly obsessive with the MAC/Sun Belt comparison.

You specifically said we would not beat Toledo or any of the other MAC teams last year. Not the historic Sunbelt teams but Marshall. You were wrong. Completely and utterly. It is about what is recent. And recently the MAC is kind of a$$. And the Sunbelt is kind of #1 in the G5. And you can also thank us for paving the way to your access bowls. If we didn't spend 6 years owning the MAC, none of you would have lifted a finger to compete, except maybe Toledo. Hell none of you even got a bowl while we were there till they gave you a second one, because WE were there. Our ranked teams of that era helped get the non-BCS schools a seat at the BCS table. None of you were doing anything about that, then. You pretty much owe us for any success you've had past '97. Like I said...clown!

I wouldn't mind playing you guys or our old friend Ohio in a bowl game. Some good football being played at the top of the MAC.

I like the MAC. I like its geography and I have a friend who went to Miami. I don’t think they’re a great athletic conference at the moment, but I think the MAC has stayed true to what a college conference is supposed to be (i.e., you don’t have any teams from California).

It’s a lot like the old CAA. JMU had five or six conference rivals in Virginia and DC alone.

Sun Belt has 10.

Three SBC schools rank above the top ranked MAC school. Additionally, SBC owns the MAC in every major men's sport.

Football
Basketball
Baseball
Soccer

Honestly it's sad if there are MAC truthers out there who think they are somehow important in 2023.

MAC has been as good as the Sun Belt in basketball. Some years Sun Belt better, some years MAC better. Hardly owning the MAC. And that's recent history only. Before it was all MAC.
