MiamiO has ended the season as a Top #15 team FOUR (4) times... Has any other current G5 team ever done that?

Is that over 150 years or over the last 5 years? It makes a difference.

College Gameday was #10 (BCS) NIU @ #24 Bowling Green after NIU beat Iowa St, Alabama, & top-25 Maryland.
Miami won the MAC, but they weren’t on College Gameday.

Last 50 yrs... Three straight yrs from '73-75 (#15,10,12), and then in '03 they finished #10 when Rapistberger was QB

I remember that 03 team. My father was sold on Rothlisberger as a future NFL QB and I wasn't. He dropped in the draft and the Steelers picked up a steal in the first round. Always listen to your dad.

Richdaddy U wins a game against us for the first time since George W was president and now they're a college football blue blood.

SMU and Rice did it, but while in SWC. Tulane did, but several were in SEC.

They've only had 5 winning seasons over the last 20 years.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/miami-oh/
And yet as of 2021 they are 27th all time in total win % with only Boise among non-P5s with more than 10 years in FBS are ahead of them. They are 31st all time in wins with only Army among the non-P5 ahead of them.
They have two top 10 finishes. How many P5 schools don't have that? Without looking it up, I doubt anyone but Army, Navy, SMU, Rice, Tulane and Boise can match that in the G5. Doubt any other current FBS schools have any top 10 finishes.
And only a handful of schools can match their cradle of coaches. Woody Hayes (Ohio St. for the youngsters), Bo Schembechler (Michigan), Ara Parsegian (Notre Dame), Sid Gillman (Houston Oilers and the mentor of Woody, Bo, Ara and others), Johnny Pont (last person to take IU to the Rose Bowl), Randy Walker (won Big 10 title at Northwestern), Bill Mallory (IU, CU, UNC), John Mackovic (Illinois, Texas, Arizona).

I know of a current G5 school that has a Top 10 finish.

I'm still confused where the College Gameday in the title came from -- Miami wasn't even playing in that game.

Thought that team finished 11th or 12th. Still only one. Watching Randy Moss in the snow vs. Toledo was fun.

Randy Moss was already in the NFL in 1999.
1999 was our second undefeated season.

From the History Vault. Also mention Access Bowl NIU and NY6 Bowls WMU. The MAC is alive and well... We compete well against the rest of the G5 and have the better resume to prove it!
.
I remember this. Josh Harris was BGSU’s QB. That team was really good. It was just that Big Ben was better. Way better.

Bowling Green beat a Purdue team that finished 9-4 and ranked No. 18. Bowling Green also beat Northwestern and a Northern Illinois team that beat Alabama, Maryland, and Iowa State. The Falcons finished No. 23.
We couldn't figure out Miami, though. They beat us twice.
Miami would have beaten Ohio State that season. (Bowling Green came pretty close.)

RE: #15 MiamiO vs #23 Bowling Green - ESPN College Game Day!
• Miami football ranks first all-time in the Mid-American Conference in wins
(717), conference wins (311) and MAC Championships (16)
• Historically, Miami’s 717 career wins, ranks third all-time among Group-of-Five programs, behind just Navy (734) and Army (722).
60 of those wins thanks to Cincinnati and 30 more vs Marshall. So 1 in 8 wins vs one of those two. LOL. 54 more vs Ohio U. 8-3 vs Northwestern. My 4 favorite schools to beat.
.
Can't wait to beat Northwestern again next season and go 9-3 all-time vs them.
