Really good (long) story on the Air Raid offense, Hal Mumme and Mike Leach.

RE: The Air Raid
biggest mistake Temple ever made
Temple had head coach who tried to bring Mumme in
school wouldn't let him, he was to toxic. I was pissed

every time I hear Mumme name, I go into convulsions

RE: The Air Raid
That was great read. I was hearing my dad throughout that story. He didn't play or coach, but would have don't things similarly.

RE: The Air Raid
I skimmed the article and I was glad it mentioned Bill Walsh. The "Air Raid" scheme really goes back to the NFL's Sid Gillman and perfected by San Diego Chargers head coach Don "Air" Coryell in the late 70s and early 80s. Bill Walsh and others ran variations of it. Not taking anything away from Mike Leach and Hal Mumme but this offense started in the NFL until it was adapted for the college game.
