Is Tuskegee "Black Cornell?"
I've heard Howard University referred to as "Black Harvard." Given that Tuskegee is a state-related HBCU (more private than public, in Alabama) with land grant status as well, would it be fair to call Tuskegee the "Black Cornell?"

Tags like that may help people who have no experience of a school to get a first impression of its importance. The Howard-Harvard comparison, for example, conveys for people unfamiliar with Howard something about the strength of the law program and the influence of its grads in Washington DC and in state capitals.
Ultimately, though, every university is one of a kind. That's certainly the case with Tuskegee. The university counts George Washington Carver, Booker T Washington, and the Tuskegee Airmen among its grads. The influence on American history is a matter of record and this thriving institution is still just getting started.

The Airmen graduated a 5 week course which today would be akin to OCS. It was taught at Tuskegee, but was quite different from the degree route. It's a distinction, but an important one. None of that takes away from the stellar combat record or faithful service of the Airmen. Chappie James would become an Air Force General, a 4 star Air Force General. While flying bomber escort the 332nd Fighter Squadron would not lose a single bomber escorted to enemy aircraft. Quite an accomplishment when the mortality rates were so high among bomber crews flying sorties over enemy territory. Members of the 332nd were the first to shoot down the Nazi ME262 Jet Fighter. Quite an accomplishment since the ME262 was over 70mph faster than the P51 Mustang.

No, it’s a pretty garbage university ran by a bunch immature and power-hungry individuals. I got one of my degrees from an HBCU. And it’s not something I would repeat, if given the choice.

Tuskegee U. is the only private HBCU in the country with land-grant status and only one of three in the U.S. (Cornell and MIT).
I did not realize TU is the nation's largest HBCU based on acreage. Per hbcumoney.com:
Tuskegee University – 5 000 Acres (12)
Alabama A&M University – 2 300 Acres (28)
Alcorn State University – 1 756 Acres (42)
Prairie View A&M University – 1 502 (48)
Kentucky State University – 915 Acres (92)
Southern University – 884 Acres (96)

The only garbage is all your posts that serve no purpose other than to trash schools - that’s effectively your whole existence on this site. It only showcases how classless of an individual you are.
Tuskegee is an excellent schools that’s altered the lives of countless blacks. It has an incredibly storied history. Credible organizations have ranked it the #3 HBCU for good reason.

I think they'd take the MEAC or SWAC but yes they did a study into the feasibility of going to Division 1 about a year ago.

RE: Is Tuskegee "Black Cornell?"
Talladega College attempted to move from NAIA to NCAA DII last year and were denied. They have been talking about restarting football, but tabled that last year as well. Maybe the NCAA told them what they needed to get right, so they pressed pause until they get their house right before moving on. I’m still hoping football is soon for them.
Also, the HBCU that seems to be tun by immature-power hungry people is Alabama A&M because of what they are doing with the Magic City Classic. A&M may have someone in the athletic department going rouge.
