Based upon the very high character requirement for officials at MSU, I would like to nominate Art Briles.

Elko hasn't been at Duke long enough for me.
I'd go for Narduzzi off that list but Michigan St fans probably think he's been mediocre.
Marshall's coach hasn't been there long enough.
Enos is terrible
Not sure about the Coordinators

Michigan State can do better than that list.

Charlie Weis may have a few good years left in him. Sadly, he didn’t make the list.
Neither did Will Muschamp, senior analyst for the defense at Georgia.

RE: McMurphy (source): Michigan State coaching candidates to replace Mel Tucker
I think the actual candidate list is much better than this, and I could see Jimbo Fisher's name on it by the end of the year.
Here's a look back at what Michigan State will pay $95 million for...
Year 1. Get a program like Colorado to 5-7.
Year 2. Get blown out a lot (record 2-5) during the COVID year with a program like Sparty and lose to Iowa 49-7.
Year 3. Have a good year. I'll define good year as making a New Year's Day bowl game.
So basically folks, you literally just need one good year with a middle tier P5 program and we'll pay you for life.* For example, Jimbo could take the A&M buyout tomorrow just based on his 2020 season with Texas A&M and we (Michigan State) would guarantee him $95 on Sunday.
*Note: Don't get caught tugging and then you can expect about $100 million from us and a decade of not having to look for a job.
Without further ado, and for data size sake, I'm taking only Tugger's 4 years of being a college head coach (2019-2022) under consideration for proof that the following fine future Spartans are in play as serious candidates provided they want to make serious moonrocks at Michigan State:
WOULD BE BUT NEBRASKA GOT US HERE - Matt Rhule 2019 Sugar Bowl with Baylor
RETIRED? YEAH, BUT WELCOME BACK! Bronco Mendenhall- 2019 Orange Bowl with Virginia
MACK BROWN... A STRETCH BUT WE'D DOUBLE HIS PAY - 2020 Orange Bowl with UNC
JOHN JAMES "JIMBO" FISHER - 2020 Texas A&M Orange Bowl
MATT CAMPBELL - 2020 Fiesta Bowl with Iowa State
KYLE WHITTINGHAM - 2021 Rose Bowl with Utah
LANE "TRAIN" KIFFIN (Note, I would love this) - 2021 Sugar Bowl with Ole Miss
DAVE "I, ROBOT" ARANDA - 2021 Sugar Bowl with Baylor
MIKE "I'm 40!" GUNDY - 2021 Fiesta Bowl with Oklahoma State
PAT "Spoiler Alert: This is who it's probably gonna be" NARDUZZI - 2021 Peach Bowl with Pittsburgh
SONNY "I CAN BEAT MICHIGAN AND I HAVE PROOF" DYKES (Other than Lane Train, I'd take him next) - 2022 Fiesta/Playoff and 2022 National Championship with TCU
CHRIS "WHO AM I?" KLIEMAN - 2022 Sugar Bowl with Kansas State
So, if any of you fine gentlemen want to make more money than you are making now by a factor of 2 or 3, you may place your application in the basket. Expect a callback from whoever the first applicant is and expect to be coaching here on Monday if that's you.

Hire Chris Creighton. Sparty isn’t one of the top 9 schools in the 18 team B1G, but if he can win at EMU he can win in East Lansing.

Dykes makes $7.5m a year at TCU, and they're not combing through his past looking for embarrassing sexual encounters to assassinate his character. Klieman only makes $5.5m and already gave MSU the stiffarm. Hmmmm, maybe there are repercussions when you only pay somebody $16m out of a $95m contract. I wonder how many people who might have been serious candidates are instead not even returning MSU's calls right now? If I was a top notch head coaching candidate, I'd be willing to accept an MSU contract offer, broken down thusly:
Year 1: $20m
Year 2: $20m
Year 3: $20m
Year 4: $20m
Years 5-10: $2.5m per year.
Each year payable on day 1 of the School year, too. After 3 yrs and 1 day, you have all of the value earned from the contract, and there's no incentive for them to go after you if you go 22-16 through 3+ seasons. I'd even agree to an $80m buyout that drops by $10m per year until it reaches 0 in year 9, just b/c I'm a good guy.

OMG, the article actually named Dan Enos? He got handed the keys at Central Michigan after Brian Kelly/Butch Jones and drove it into the ground.

I'm guessing most Pitt fans would love Sparty to take their coach of their hands.
What he is doing to Pitt this year borders on the criminal.

I think Jonathon Smith and Lance Leipold would be better than any of those guys. But if these are the only choices available then Charles Huff would be my first choice and Mike Elko would be my second choice. They need someone with head coaching experience that has shown that they can turn a losing program into a winning program.

Leipold passed on Nebraska last year, why would he go to a similarly terrible situation in East Lansing for the same pay? If they can even afford another $95m contract. Who knows how much of that remaining $79m they'll end up being on the hook for. Kansas is not some little bitty podunk school, they can afford to pay Leipold what it takes to keep him if he keeps winning.

Charlie Weis has good years left? He never had any before! unless your arguement is he used up all the bad years, and therefor only has good years left this statement doesn’t hold water

Shhh on Leipold. We're actually renovating/rebuilding our stadium b/c we like him so much--it was in his contract.

RE: McMurphy (source): Michigan State coaching candidates to replace Mel Tucker
Michigan State should be looking at two candidates till told thank you, but no thank you. That would be Dukes HC Elko and Ohio States OC Hartline, and I would take Hartline if you capsule pry him away from the Buckeyes. After that start looking at offensive minded HCs or top rated OCs. Reason being you hire a Defensive minded HC or top rated DC they have to hire a good OC, and if they’re really good then programs will be coming after him pronto. If you hire an Offensive minded HC or OC they’re going to be around for awhile. Not saying coaches of the defensive side wouldn’t leave too, but teams usually look at offensive guys as HCs more so than defensive guys.

LSU fans are calling for Matt House to be fired. Doubt he’s on this list anymore.

I continue to believe that Mich St is going to have issues hiring a coach when they slidered a shady "with cause" on the last guy to get out of their contract. (Which they may end up being on the hook for.) This wasnt a Texas/Chris Beard type of firing, which I believe was absolutely justified and should have happened. It was completely shady and may be biting them in the ass now, and in the ass later.
