Sac State. I mean, why not? We just humiliated one of the programs that put them in this awful position, certainly that garners some consideration. 04-cheers

RE: New Pac Candidate
This will sound disingenuous coming from a fan of a school that doesn't currently have a real football stadium, but it would do wonders for Sac State's prospects to build a real basketball arena.

We need an on campus venue, but if that ever became a condition of an FBS invite we'd just rent the Golden1 Center.

It's pretty funny that Troy Taylor just left Sacramento St, only to then lose to them in his 3rd game as the new coach at Stanford. Perhaps he's starting to realize why David Shaw quit without anything lined up.

Taylor did great things while at Sac (last BSC conference loss was in 2019), but I always felt he was going to move on to a bigger gig at some point. A few weeks before he was poached, the local rag ran story with a "I love it here and I have no reason to leave" theme to it. I knew he was as good as gone at that point.

You got to wonder if Cal and Stanford had gone independent in football, where would they have parked their non-football sports. Probably some California based conference like the Big West.

Don't they play in the AAC as an affiliate in one sport?

David Shaw is working at the NFL Network. He could afford to quit without having another job lined up with what he made at Stanford. Stanford was picked to finish last in the Pac-12 and they are meeting expectations. Taylor is making the transition from Shaw's west coast pro-style offense to his version of the air raid/spread offense. He needs to get his players for his system. Taylor has a top 25 recruiting class for 2024 and the No. 2 ranked QB in California. He just needs time to turn it around. They have even started to bring in transfers. I think Shaw will end up in the NFL, where he coached from 1997 through 2005.

It was no secret Shaw was in the hot seat. The players liked him, apparently, and the school didn't just fire him mid-season, which says a lot (I suspect the baffling win against Notre Dame didn't hurt).
