We failed to add the best all around program available and opted for lousy Charlotte and North Texas.

If the school prez had been watching football instead of his wife and the pool boy, who knows what might have happened.

This feels eerily like a CUSA thread from previous years.

They aren’t bad but they aren’t the beast some of you seem to think.

If we are adding I rather have Army, App St or Georgia St over them.

Liberty's only been in FBS what, 5 years? Bowling Green and New Mexico St don't exactly bring out road fans. Liberty's student section is one of the best in the country. Their sports as a whole are better than App. State. Their facilties are easily good enough for the AAC and their athletic budget is already better than mid AAC teams. I do get why they would rather have Army over Liberty. Ga. State, not sure...

Right, if we don't get Army I hope we do go after Liberty. They would instantly be a top tier program in this conference, problem is Liberty may decide that the 2024 American is too much of a lateral move and decline.

I think it’s obvious that Liberty belongs in the conference. So does Army, Air Force, and Colorado State.

Liberty should join the AAC simply to become SMU’s farm team.

Unless, of course, Tulsa would like that designation.

Air Force and Colorado State aren't leaving the Mountain West for this.

If ECU, Navy, and Charlotte are still there, it does provide Liberty with 3 local rivals, something they do not have in CUSA. Plus you have Temple not that far away either. And I still think a TV contract would net more than CUSA.

- Liberty has won 8 or more games every year they have been fully FBS.
- Liberty beat four Power 5 teams (Arkansas, VTech, Syracuse, and BYU, and had one point losses to NC State and Wake Forest.
- Liberty has an above average athletic budget for the AAC.
- Liberty's facilities are easily good enough for the AAC.
- Liberty would have 3 local rivals in East Carolina, Navy, and Charlotte.
- Liberty's other sports teams are good. Baseball, Softball, and field hockey have bene nationally ranked at times, and women's soccer is currently getting votes for being ranked.
- Liberty is a private college like Rice, SMU, Tulsa, and Tulane, so the AAC is a much better fit for them than the Sun Belt.
- Liberty's market size in Lynchburg is 71st out of 210, not great, but still above average.

For all these reasons, I think the AAC is a near perfect fit for Liberty.
