"Through two weeks as an FBS program, Sam Houston has mustered just three points and 16 total first downs while starting 0-2 with losses against BYU and Air Force. This is a program won the FCS national title in 2020. Was it really worth the jump?"

Long term, yes.

In the old FBS landscape maybe. In the current landscape, where DI-AA G5 schools aren't as valuable because more money and coverage is consolidating at the top, I'm not so sure.

I would say Sam is in a bit of a dilemma. Their best players may be in their review mirror and the last of them may be wrapping up their careers. SHSU doesn’t have the financing to compete at the FBS level. The facilities had better get a whole lot better or recruiting is going to be a very hard sell.

Money games are what they are I guess. Not much to dwell on except we are now down our top 2 receivers. Gabalis can throw it, it’s just that he throws it to the other team 2.5 times a game.
The defense didn’t make Tech punt much, and maybe made North Alabama punt once? Maybe twice.
Let’s see more Lewis at running back. Clearly faster and maybe a little bigger than the smurfs.
I don’t think we accomplish much with Southwest Baptist this week. UTPB hung 86 on them and gave up 7. Whitten will keep it 3-4 scores.
Just get through it healthy.
We probably go 6-5 for the year + or - a game. Transition ends, so absolutely no excuses or quarter given in ‘24. All sports across the board, not just football will need to get much better.

I'm here for all of this! Good ole boy system will be thrown out the door next year!

With this roster, if we lose more than 3 FCS games this season it will be a serious disappointment. The Texans are about to go on nice little *ROLL* here, I think....
