Jerry The King Lawler
WWE was in Memphis Monday. Incredible salute to our King, Jerry Lawler. He has had a heart attack and two strokes. I'm so glad he was able to do this.
I grew up watching him every Saturday.

Lawler was also a very good artist. He painted the outside of Yellow Submarine, the head shop at Poplar and Mendenhall, in a perfect copy of a Frank Frazetta painting.

Unless it's an urban myth he is supposed to have an art degree from Memphis. I worked with his cousin Wayne Farris, AKA The Honky Tonk Man, as a truck driver at Film Transit back in the late 70s. He had success as a wrestler too for a time, he was the WWE Intercontinental Champion; his 454-day reign is the longest reign in the title's history.
