with the impending demise of the Pac, the SB has a great chance to become the #5 football conference out there.

we are already a top 2-3 conference in men's soccer and top 4-5 in softball and baseball.

gotta work on basketball next. Need to be in that 9-12 range consistently for both men and women to have realistic chances for at large bids each year.

No one wants to play us in baseball and they know we're not pushovers when it comes to football either! 04-rock I agree about the basketball piece missing. There's way too much apathy with Coastal when it comes to our own programs and I'm hoping school leaders start to make this more of a higher athletic priority moving forward...

Whoever lands WSU and OSU will likely be the #5 conference, but I do think the SB will be able to solidify itself as the #6 conference right behind whoever gets left out of the PAC remnant lottery. Personally, Im hoping the MW emerges victorious since we don't butt heads with them recruiting as much as the AAC.

not sure i agree. i think OSU and especially WSU are going to suffer without P5 status.
i think they become just another MW program in that league. as good as boise or Fresno or sdsu

money will decrease significantly and lack of exposure to top tier opponents is going to make them decline competitively.

there is a reason they were left out.

Power or not, what I really care about is....will the currently proposed CFP model still be the same? (6+6 model, 6 highest ranked conference champions and 6 highest ranked at-larges).

So long as that still takes place and the SBC continues to close the gap on the AAC/MWC in terms of TV revenue, then I don't care who's power or who's not. There's no such thing as a Power 5 anymore - it's now the Power 4. When WSU, Oregon State, and whoever else form a conference, it's not going to be a Power conference - it'll be right in line with the SBC and AAC. Simple as that.

I fear that 5+7 will be the best we can hope for. 6+6 will almost certainly die when the PAC does (even if it remains in name, it will effectively be the MWC). All at-large 12 is a possibility and the absolute worst case scenario. G5 programs do occasionally finish in the top 12, but it won't be a yearly thing. The SEC and B1G will be gunning for the Top 12 format to ensure they get more bids.

Well you know, the P5 had to roll out the 6+6 model to get everyone on board with 12 and then they'll just pull the rug from under everyone and do straight 12 so they can monopolize it with P2 teams.

They will for sure at some point complain "it's not fair, our conference is so big that we have multiple ranked teams"...................gotta love it - create the problem then whine, then pull the rug...

Need that CFP in 2024 to be a SBC team before they change all this - Gill gotta play defense a lot i'm sure
