Exclamation App State to retire Armanti Edwards number
Was wondering if App was ever going to do this. Congrats to this all-around jerk. 04-cheers

The Jayson Foster-Edwards game from 2007 was really probably as entertaining a game as you can get at any level and I still stand by that.

It was entertaining because you all won. However that wasn't the only close game with Edwards involved, including the one where Edwards made Chris Covington "The Headless Horseman".

I probably attended twice as many games during his era than I would have otherwise simply because I never wanted to miss a single snap. Even if I was supposed to work or out of town, I'd figure out a way to get there because I knew I'd never see another player like that in my lifetime. Every snap kept you on the edge of your seat because you knew he would do something crazy. Well deserved!

Well deserved and way overdue.

What he, Moore, Hillary, Jackson, Lynch and Cadet did during that run was must-see tv.

First player to win the Walter Payton Award twice. Some big time players have held that trophy once. What a legend.

Always been a misconception about that Armanti stiff arm. That's Chris Rogers (#20) for Georgia Southern, not Chris Covington (#28). See 24:50 from the below video.

Also, that's Shawn Elliott breaking up the post-play staredown.

App waited until he was done playing pro football, like the College HOF does before retiring his number. 14 will be the last number App will retire.

And it should have been offensive facemask.

But you know whatever.

RE: App State to retire Armanti Edwards number
Of all the highlight reel plays he had of my most vivid memory is the winning TD drive at Richmond in the '09 playoffs. Spiders took the lead with 3:30 left to play when they stripped a caught punt and ran it in for a TD. The Richmond folks around us were going crazy, but I warned them they left too much time left on the clock for #14. The drive was made even more improbable after a holding penalty and incomplete pass left App with a 2nd and 20 from the 20 with right at 3 minutes to go. In the next 3 minutes Edwards had 4 rushes for 17 yards & 5 completions for 47 yards with the game winner coming with 10 seconds remaining. Classic AE. He absolutely earned his nickname, Money. On Sr Day in '09 I had a banner made that says "KBS, The House That Armanti Built". I still have it and you know I'm going to break it out for this day.

That Richmond game was nuts. Mix of snow and rain. Crap field. Last game at Richmond City Stadium. And Armanti won it with 7 seconds left.

One of the worst weather games I've ever attended. We sat on the Richmond side because the opposite stands were so low. Great way to send off that piece of junk stadium.

Nah, I think that game was a classic too.
