Green Bank is located within the National Radio Quiet Zone, which means that radio transmissions are heavily restricted by law.[5] This policy is enforced by a "radio policeman" who uses specialized equipment to detect signals from unauthorized electronics.[6] Green Bank is home to the Green Bank Telescope, the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope, which was operated by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) until September 30, 2016. Since October 1, 2016, the Telescope has been operated by the Green Bank Observatory, which is no longer part of the NRAO. It was at the Green Bank Site in 1961 that Frank Drake presented the Drake Equation, which was developed to provide an estimate of the total number of detectable extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy.

That would definitely make it an extremely unique place in the world today.
It truely is. But in reality, there are tons of places in WV that don't have cell service. I can drive 15 minutes from Marshall's campus and lose service.

Snowshoe for sure is close to that area. Cell service is mostly non existent up there.
Snowshoe Resort is in the National Radio Quiet Zone, however, they are far enough away from the telescope that they are allowed to use limited directional cell service signals. You pretty much have to be right in the village on top of the mountain to get signal.
If you drive into the resort from Buckhannon or Elkins, you hit long stretches of road with absolutely no cell service.

I travel West Virginia often for both work and motorcycle riding. Especially the east side of the State, mobile phone reception is often non-existent. And, if you are ever there, don't let the opportunity to top off the gas tank, potty break, quick snack, etc., pass. It might be a while till you get to the next opportunity. But, for you motorcyclists, it's a great place to ride!
Speaking of weird things in WV, my wife was telling me she was reading about a pizza place in Wheeling, WV that would cook the crust and sauce then top it with cold mozzarella and toppings. Said it was popular through the Ohio Valley. What's up with that? Sounds like the Lunchables my kid begs me for.

That would be DiCarlos Pizza from Wheeling, WV. I've tried it myself and I'm not a huge fan of it.

Not sure, most of us don't consider the Northern Panhandle part of WV.

Funnily enough I was in Green Bank just a few weeks ago. If you can make it to see the radio telescope I'd highly recommend! They have a nice little bus tour of the facility, and we even got to see this multiple-building-sized telescope move! Bring the kids, there's a great little science area in the main building.

Yeah, Mountains. I live in the Blue Ridge in SWVA just south of Roanoke. I lose cell service several times on my way to work and back. Talking to my wife one of us will say: hold on, going through "the curve" and about 5 seconds later it will come back in.
