Women’s scorer returned home after some long trips and defeated Allen University 5-1.

Nice to get a big win, even if it is against a non-D1.
Those are the most wins we have had since at least 2014. (Not sure how old the program is.)

Unfortunately, they followed it up with a loss against the same team in the finale.

Still— steady progress the last three seasons. Something to see as a positive especially with their coaching carousel they’ve had.

Valpo, who defeated the Cougars 5-1 early in the season lost in the first round of the NCAA tourney to #3 Notre Dame 2-0. At a quick glance, I believe that was the only tourney team the women played.

The shame I noticed in the women’s soccer RPI rankings is that South Carolina State is an Indy in women’s soccer and they and Chicago State didn’t play. Seems like an obvious home and home every season as long as they are both independents.

RPI rankings- https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-wom...soccer-rpi

If they each play another team when they travel, they may be able to each get a return home game next year from the other team they played on the same trip.

No doubt the coaches tried, but either scheduling or finances didn’t allow it I suppose. Allen University is also in South Carolina. I wonder if Chicago State is going to play at SCSU next fall and the Allen trip to Chicago will be repaid with a home game on that trip?

South Carolina State was winless, and didn’t score in 11 of their 14 games. Chicago needs them on the schedule lol. In their first 2 games of the season, SCSU gave up 25 goals! That’s more half of the goals Chicago gave up all season long.

Man, that would be a good school to schedule. Hopefully they have something worked out for next year with South Carolina State.
