Good. The S$C pretty much only wants buy games. ACC teams are far more willing to play home and homes. Unless it's for a home and home or at very least a 2 for 1 I never want to see an SEC team on the schedule again.

Eh, the contrast between the ACC and SEC as far as willingness to play Sun Belt schools should probably have an asterisk beside it. Many of those ACC matchups were scheduled with teams like ODU and JMU that weren’t in the Sun Belt at the time of being scheduled.

Time to go after those old PAC schools that are only getting partial shares in their new conferences. They may be willing to fill their schedule with some H&H over the $1mil+ bought games.

I would break that down even further. I haven't looked at the numbers but my guess is that the SEC West is much more open to playing FunBelt teams (particularly teams from the SBC West) than the SEC East. With the exception of 2019 & 2020 we've played at least 1 and often 2 SEC teams per year.

The JMU/UVA game was given to us by Liberty. This took place just after Liberty accepted the invitation to CUSA. We'd already announced we were going to the SB. Our game with UNC next season was a FCS contracted game that was supposed to be the season of Covid but got postponed. The VA Tech game was a bonified FCS contracted game due to be played in two years. Then we have Maryland, a completed deal after we became FBS and comes with a nice paycheck.
As for ODU, all of their games were contracted as FBS and most, if not all, are home-and-home contracts. They had one game scheduled with UVA that was scheduled as an FCS team but as soon as they became FBS it was renegotiated as a 2 for 1 deal.

All Marshall fans know that UK refuses to play us in football to avoid another loss on the sched, but I wouldn't mind playing someone like Vandy on the low end of the standings in the big conferences..

RE: Is the SEC dodging the Sun Belt?
I heard something awhile back and I'm not sure how much was true.. I understood that we make less playing $EC teams than we will playing Ohio State. OSU will foot most of our bill and then pay us the amount for the game vs the SEC team says it's this much and you pay your way.
Both were standard practices across the conferences (Big 10 and SEC). If this OSU game is successful then USM was going to look at playing more Big 10 teams cause we'd make more than playing a local SEC team.
Again not sure how much was true and how much was a WAG.

If you're trying to compare what Miss State will pay you, STOP!
You want to compare what Auburn and Alabama will pay versus OSU or Michigan, then proceed with your thoughts. What deal you can strike with OOC games is completely on the individual school. We, JMU, have struck a deal with Maryland, $1.4M. I'd certainly expect more from OSU, both Big 10 schools. Frankly, getting 1.4 out of UMD was more than I would have expected. UMD knows we will travel well to a game their. Heck, it's closer to the majority of our alumni than is Harrisonburg. AD's look at every aspect when negotiating payday deals.

Was not. Moo U is a different animal due to them being instate and a team we used to play a lot. Those two schools north of USM are games we want, and we don't consider them $$ games. Playing a Bama, Auburn, GA, TAMU, etc., that's different.
The comparison I heard was based on what we made playing Bama a couple years back vs our deal with OSU for next season.
Again I'm not privy to all the details and I'm not sure the person that was telling me this knew all the ins and outs either.
