I can already picture it in the stands . . .. making little kids cry.

That mascot won't last very long then, IMO. Any mascot that has ever frightened any kid got a new redesign shortly thereafter, if my memory serves me well.

They tried to re-design our Marco mascot and made him look mean. Pissed everyone off and they had to bring back the original Marco. 03-lmfao

Same thing happened at GS lol there was a literal riot calling for old GUS’s return

That one looked BAAAAADDDDDDD though. It was a disaster!

Obviously you have never seen the Clemson Tiger or Purdue Pete. Both induce nightmares, and can be summoned by chanting their names

And then, of course, there's Gritty up here in Philly, who revels in creating nightmares.

I love Gritty.

Remember the old movie Twins? Phillie Phanatic is Arnie, and Gritty is Danny DeVito.

(Fwiw, I love Gritty too. In fact, I'd say I know as many Gritty fans as Flyers fans atm.)

Go with Alligators. Tons of mascots are Tigers, Eagles, Bulldogs I wouldn't think Gators or Alligators would be too much.

Louisiana's should be a Racoon. If they don't that's a serious missed opportunity.

In 2011 JMU changed the look of Duke Dog where he ended up looking like a bear. It caused so much backlash that it received a writeup in the Washington Post.

03-lmfao I remember that day.

That's also they tried to change our Kelly Green to a dark green. That pissed everyone off too and they had to switch back to Kelly Green. Tankfully everyone that was making decisions back then are gone.

Back in the 80s Marco was live, but he kept trying to eat the turf so they had to put him out to reserve from what I've heard..with that being said, I saw him at Fan day this year and he looks anorexic...

He lived at Camden Park, you could see him if you took the train ride that went around the back half of the park. Life expectancy of a Bison is 10 - 20 years, I doubt you saw the original Marco this year.

Clarification: Back in the 70s/80s, we apparently had a REAL buffalo, but he kept tryin' to eat the turf, so they moved to the costume...Saw someone in the suit at Fan Day a while back...
