Exclamation Skip Holtz Northwestern special assistant to the head coach

Sources: Northwestern has agreed in principle to hire Skip Holtz as the special assistant to the head coach for the 2023 season. Holtz’s assignment is temporary and won’t interfere with his USFL job as the head coach of the Birmingham Stallions.

With all he's losing to the NFL not sure there's going to be much of a team left or at least a major roster rebuild probably a good idea to get back in the other game.

NFL still has a ton of trimming to do. I’d be shocked if all those guys stuck on a roster.

He’ll reload. The stallions do a great job of talent evaluation. Winning a championship probably isn’t to be expected but I don’t think they will suck.

The 21 year old director of player personnel has done a great job for the Stallions!

Agreed. The Stallions had a bunch of injuries to key players this year & still won the USFL.

Holtz makes about $1.6 million per year with the Stallions. If he doesn’t come back, do you think there’s a chance Coach Clark is offered the job? Similar money to what he would be making at UAB, and he wouldn’t have to move. I imagine he’d get more time to spend with family, since he wouldn’t be out recruiting.

I think if Skip were to leave, Bill Clark would be the Stallions’ first call if he is available. I think it would be a perfect fit for him too. I would imagine Skip has told him how much fun it is to just coach football, scout unheralded guys with high potential who fit what you want to do, and then to not have to deal with recruiting and NIL, and you get off-season to actually have a life.
