As I was walking this evening, I was listening to a podcast by Neil
deGrasse Tyson. His guest was software engineer Matt Ginsberg. Several years ago Ginsberg did some statistical work for the University of Oregon. Ginsberg concluded that you should never punt between the 35 yard lines, and you should always go for it on 4th and 1.

The last 15-20 years have been about teams using statistical analysis to optimize their players and game play. Now it’s going to be about leagues adopting rules to optimize the fan experiences and competitiveness. MLB rule changes this year being a great example.
