Another victim has succumb to conference alignment fever. It destroys the brain.

When you see people just start throwing schools around with no logic the only reason is to increase the size cause 30 is too small. You know they have caught conference realignment fever. You can only wait for the fever to go away and with it the delusional ranting.

If they come out swinging like JMU did, that will change things.

They completed their first year of transition in '22 just like we did. They could only muster up nine games last season with only one being FBS. They went 5 - 4 against a schedule of teams, most of which I've never heard of. They'd have gone 0 - 8 had they played a SunBelt schedule. They are light years away from having facilities worthy of any SB team going to they're campus.

Middle Tennessee State is looking at the AAC.

FIU would be looking at the AAC.

SBC have been talking to SBC the past year and a half to join. Missouri State would be a good add for basketball.

I know the SBC wanted to add Chattanooga around 2013, but they just hired a new football coach, looking for a new AD and did not have the money on hand to do anything until they get everything in place. They now said that they are ready to look at joining an FBS conference.

North Carolina A&T is looking to join FBS.

Kennesaw State would be a new CUSA school next year. If Georgia State does jump to AAC for more money? I could see SBC grab Kennesaw State to get back in the Atlanta's tv market.

Tarleton State is upgrading their football stadium towards 22,000.

ACU is upgrading their facilities.

Central Arkansas wants to go FBS, and adding them could replace the Little Rock tv market since Little Rock refused to add football.

Not sure if they want to add McNeese State.

Lamar have good baseball, but they do have the facilities to go FBS.

The commish have been thinking on going to 20 schools for the Fun Belt.

As for ODU, Georgia State, Arkansas State, La.-Lafayette, Texas State, South Alabama would jump to the AAC since they are in tv markets, and the AAC have a much better tv deal than the SBC does.

As for a future D1 school to look out for? I would keep an eye on Central Oklahoma as they are upgrading their facilities as we speak. Oklahoma City tv market would be okay for SBC if they do pull the trigger, but there is signs that they have not said no about joining D1 yet. They admitted that they have been talking to 3 D1 conference to join.

I would not rull out West Florida in the future either. They would be closer to the core eastern part unlike FIU would be.

ECU is holding out for an ACC invite after the ACC is raided by the SEC and B12. If that looks like it won’t happen they won’t mind joining the SBC in the East division if the money is the same or better than the American. If some other top AAC schools bolt ECU will have no other choice but to join the SBC; as the SBC will clearly be the better conference for ECU.

No idea if it's true, but some of this reflects what Texas St fans themselves are saying. Also has some logic if you look at AAC membership.

Stop right there.

Everything you said after that was supposition and fan-splaining.

I totally read that in Ellen Foley’s voice in my head.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Me too!!!!

I’m expecting around 35k for the game, maybe 40k if UTSA wins week 1 at Houston, more than that if Texas State upset Baylor. It’s nice to see the rivalry again after a few years of realignment/covid out of the way.

I would love to have this as a conference game.

Then the Sun Belt can bring in UTSA and ECU when SMU and Memphis bolt, then we can call it a day. UTSA would be an ideal fit for Texas State, Louisiana, USM, etc. and other than leaving UNT behind, I can't imagine there would be much for UTSA to be upset about in the Sun Belt.

That wont happen, Marshall have been very adamant that the reason they left CUSA was because they didnt want to play Texas teams.

I'm not a Marshall fan but think I'm qualified to answer here, we didn't want to be in a TX dominated league with few regional rivals. Which is why we wouldn't except an AAC invite. The Sun Belt is evenly divided and controlled with respect and courtesy extended to all members. So we, and our friends at Marshall would happily approve an addition giving TXST a rival to play in Texas.

AAC defects to the Sun Belt is not happening without some cataclysmic change but not for the reason you mentioned.

Just a bit of late night research, I looked at the last CUSA mileage from Huntington, I think the closest was 500 miles (driving) we're a LOT closer overall to our sched now..

It’s a natural. Perhaps if the AAC falls apart UTSA would consider a SBC invite. UTSA basketball is atrocious, but a Bobcat/Roadrunner matchup in football would be great.

I seem to recall some fans of recent SBC additions who were pretty sour on joining the SBC. Then they realized their reality and the SBC was a much better situation than staying where they were. I have a feeling that if/when ECU joins the SBC they’ll see it as a life line. If not, then they should just stay where they are - we don’t need fanbases that are unhappy and wanting to jump the minute they join.
