RE: Sun Belt Football preseason fan poll
It’s interesting that Troy had more projections to finish first in the Sun Belt West but finished second in projected conference championship game winner. That must mean a good portion of people project Troy to win the west but lose the championship game. Then people that think USA wins the west tend to think USA would win the championship game. I don’t know that I was expecting to see that in the data, but that’s certainly interesting.

I voted for the fighting McAlls to win the East and Belt. I am not going to doubt that prolific arm and teal green piss.

Kinda surprised I am in the minority.

Lol. They do get Marshall at home, but I guess it's why we play the games on grass...or turf...

I do think the east is up for grabs.

RE: Sun Belt Football preseason fan poll
I voted for App first reluctantly. It's not that I think they have talent or culture or some secret sauce no one else has. It's a team in the East that on paper should have solid coaching on both sides of the ball with coordinator changes and the schedule works.

JMU's problem is playing both the Alabama teams in cross-division schedule.

Honestly don't get why so many are so big on Marshall. No offense to them, but they didn't top 30 points in regulation against a single FBS team and they played non-P5 teams ranking 70, 83, 102, 103, 188, and 129th in total defense. With their DC gone and having the same HC, OC, and RB they're suspect.

As for Georgia Southern, we were picked to finish 7th by most last season and we finished 4th. Don't be surprised if this year's pick is off again.

I get that. But we do bring back a massive stud at RB in Ali, and the O is going to go through that.

I'm also leary of our QB situation. I was kinda hoping one of the new bloods would take the job. Hasn't happened yet.

I would love to be wrong trust me. But right now I see a 7 or 8 win Marshall team. Our schedule on paper is rough. Not enough to win the East, but enough to play in a respect bowl.

There are way more Marshall fans that are in tune with the off-season progress and turnover than I, so I would love to hear others opinions.

Here's the optional thoughts from the responders. Deleted a couple troll responses.

Quote:Excited

Going to be wide open

Very strong

There will be blood

Time to be the top G5.

If App state can return to form, USA and Southern Miss keep taking the next step it’s going to be a fantastic conference. A lot relies on the East carrying the division though

Very excited!

ODU will go 1-11 or 6-6, depending on whether all the new parts on offense click. My guess is they won't, and by the end of the school year, a lot of you will wonder why you didn't leave us to rot in CUSA. Troy seems like the safest top pick. JMU could go bonkers to make their own case for being the SBC's best team, but I feel like they might have a bit of a hangover after last year's explosive debut. Not anticipating any real surprises, but I like both the Louisiana schools to overperform. Playing a hunch that even with McCall and two preseason first-team WRs, Coastal with a new coach is the biggest disappointment. Even with poor football, deteriorating men's basketball and the worst bang for one's buck on athletic spending, still way happier ODU is in the SBC than whatever CUSA is or whatever the AAC ends up being.

There is a lot of parity among the top half. Six or seven teams could win the conference.

It’ll be a slog where a lot of good teams keep any one team from breaking out. Sadly it’ll make the conference seem weak unless we can all rack up a lot of non-conference victories. Go App! Together We Rise!

Old Dominion's the sleeper pick from the East, Louisiana-Monroe's going to shock teams in the West, and Sun Belt's going to have best bowl season record of any conference

It shall be a amazing

Georgia Southern gets enough defense to win the championship. The west is tough and comes down to Troy and USM but there are others that could surprise. I think the East comes down to Southern, Marshall, and JMU but JMU is not eligible. Coastal and App are down this year.

Five teams in the east have a strong case to win the division. The West is more spread out.

Cannot get here soon enough.

It will be a great chance for the conference to build on the national exposure it has been receiving.

Sun Belt is rising!!

It is going to be brutal.

Excitement for a new start more so than fear of such. But uncertainty is certain
Passion, parity and pain! Great seeing many programs breaking ticket records and donor increases. The belt is up for grabs! Who wants it more?

Lots of talent in both divisions. So grateful to be a proud member of the SBC. GO EAGLES!

Gonna be exciting, competitive. Another great year for the Fun Belt!

It could be the best season yet in Sun Belt history, which is a lot to say considering 2022.

Bloodbath

Better than 2022

Great opportunity for the league this year with so much uncertainty in other leagues to show how fun and exciting some of our rivalries are

Best G5 getting better every year

All that talk about SBC > AAC, we better perform like it!

App State gets back to playing Mountaineer Football. Marshall will be tough as always.

Coastal's One trick pony show gets exposed. Troy is the real deal. JMU's arrogance will come back to bite them. It'll be a dogfight for spots 3-7 in each division.

Both divisions feel more balanced.

Going to be an exciting one with a lot of team parity.

Can’t wait to watch Warhawks surprise

Both divisions are loaded at the top. It’s going to be a battle every week. Rising!
Eagerly awaiting for the season to start. All App home games plus several easy to drive to away games.

App needs 9+ wins or the program is in need of a new head coach.

College Football the way God intended!

Excited

If QB play is legit, App State goes undefeated in conference play and contends for NY6. JMU and Coastal take steps back, Georgia Southern is sneaky good.

Excited for all teams, more excited to see what Kinne does at TXST. May not be THE season but hope to see major improvements every game.

I hope we all perform well ooc and whichever team (hopefully Marshall) wins the ccg gets the new years bowl. This will get the conference even more respect going in to the next season with a chance for the playoffs. Just have to keep rising SBC!

Slap ya momma good

We’re gonna tear **** up

Complete and total awesomeness

We will be the best G5, and Coastal Carolina will be our first ever NY6 representative.

Can't wait

Scrappy

EPICNESS

Just ready for some football

Can't wait. If our QB play improves we will be a tough team to beat. Coastal worries me more than anyone else in the east with their QB. They will always be in a game. Not completely sold on JMU and App. USA and Troy battle for the west. I do believe USM may surprise a lot of folks.

It'll be the season we get the most attention nationwide.

It’s hard to rank 2-5 in the East and 3-5 in the West for me. Really could go all types of ways. One thing is for sure whether you are in the East or West it’s going to be a grind.

Less likely to make a splash nationally, but top half of the league will be excellent quality

Pumped and excited to see how we all do out of conference

SunBelt will finish with the highest ranked G5 team and two in the top twenty five.
Strong conference, has gotten better every year

Let's Goooo!

Competitive

I've got no idea who will be the power teams

its going to be a beast

Can't wait !!!

Have to remember, we got 40 newcomers (portal, and Freshies)...lot of unknown changes. But the defense will still be stout, just have to get Cam consistent reps which he didn't have at the start of last year
