Former players at other schools who watched how Northwestern unfolded are licking their chops.

There seems to be negative articles that come out every year or every other year about Fleck and how he...runs his program.

That little worm told UC not to even pick up the phone when we were looking and ended up hiring Fickell.

I hope he ends up coaching and teaching typewriter repair at East Buttsmell High School.

This season is going to suck with all this belly aching about mistreatment or supposed mistreatment of athletes hanging in the air.

Everybody else has the advantage of seeing how the situation has played out at NW, and they'll try mighty hard to avoid that. If someone did something wrong and needs to be fired, they'll be fired, but if there's random bellyaching from disgruntled former players without actionable claims against the HC then nothing will happen.

The spotlight is on culture. For everything within higher education, stuff like this was only a matter of time, and, honestly, well overdue for at least tighter scrutiny.

At what point did football players become bellyachers, whiners and crybabies? Toxic. Mental health. They're coddled more than ever and they're bigger p****** than ever. That goes for nearly all athletes today.

I thought Mike Leach died last year.

Yeah, really. That, or did this guy emerge from hibernation since the early 90's?

I get a chuckle, though. Athletes can have their scholarships pulled regardless of athletic or academic performance on the whim of a coach. Schools were officially selling individual jerseys and featuring star athletes in literature and other media without giving a dime back to the guys, but, yeah, they're the p******. 100%.

Yup.

Football coaches are generally not nice guys.

Depending on how much social pressure their is to keep mouths shut, you could see the same report at any school in the nation.

You think P.J. Fleck regrets leaving Western Michigan? He could have been a legend there.

PJ Fleck has always left me feeling odd about him. I don’t have a problem with tough coaches. I’ve never been a fan of the “cult of personality.” Imagine training your team to give an ovation every time you walk in the room? It’s just weird.

Why would you take offense to that? He saved you from wasting your time. Big Ten > AAC, or are you delusionally thinking otherwise?

Luckily the people in charge of UC never just wrote us off as an "AAC" or else we never would have made the CFP.

Too soon. I have as much reason to hate Leach as anybody on this forum for what he did to us on the field, but he was a Legend and worthy of much respect.

Fleck's response. It really doesn't matter though. If NW would have waited until now to make a decision on Fitzgerald I think that they would have made a different decision btw, all the oxygen in the room is getting sucked up by CU and the big 12/Pac dance.
