I'm fine with the political banter being moved to the Horse**** forum. It really does take away the WMU specific topics from this forum.
As many of you know or may not know, my son attends WMU. There are many topics directly related to WMU that I could discuss -- both good and bad even outside the rebrand which many of you know I'm pretty passionate about. For example, since we have an urban campus, as a parent, student safety is always on my mind. On the flip side, I'd love to see more discussion about the future of campus layout/building as well as the impact of the new downtown arena which should be front and center in addition to the rebrand.

FYI-Rebrand, #1 Topic with 754 replies and over 60,664 views. Yet Dan said he didn't get any feed back. Would hate to have seen it buried in Horse *&%.
I'd like to see a new "main topic", lets call it Dear Dan, where we can invite him to read specific general athletic threads, like the Rebrand disaster which impacted all of the athletics. Another good general athletic thread under Dear Dan, "where's the Master Facilities Plan" which was due early this Spring?
I also believe Men's Soccer should have it's own team link, like FB, BB and Hky.

Agree with keeping the WMU topics on the main page. It would be nice to get some updates on the campus and facilities. I'm beyond frustrated that Dan said he would have the facilities plan from Gensler Sports announced in Spring 2023. It's almost August and not a peep about it.

Its a bad look when people come to see what the buzz is in the athletic programs and see a contentious political debate. Gives a false sense of what the larger university community is.

There was a time when university campuses were seen as a hotbed of political discussion, facilitating the free exchange of ideas, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

This isn't a university campus though. Its a WMU sports /community message board. Having it organized in a way that isn't putting top of head political takes from anyone and everyone on the front page is a different thing.

I guess WMU would better off with a bunch of monolithic thinking sheep...

Welcome to every message board/forum in the internet.
And we've already decided to move those discussions to the horse**** subforum.

That pretty much sums up modern universities. Only one opinion is allowed.

Those days are long gone. Administrators are fired if they like the wrong tweet or allow a conservative speaker on campus.

This isn't the university. This is a sports and to some extent WMU community message board. Do we want political ranting by anyone and everyone to be among the first thing visiters see? I don't think we are any better or worse than anyone else in terms of content its just an organizational question.
Politics is now an oil spill, it gets on everything and contaminates it.

or maybe the University Athletic teams need to give us something to talk about? It's called winning. They need to focus on winning titles and we will see a lot more threads about those sports/teams.

That would be a refreshing change.
