I have gotten the sense over the years that we've almost looked up to Pat Fitzgerald and Northwestern's athletic department as a mentor. I admit, this shocked me, given the school's reputation and the glowing things our leaders for years have said about them.

He is claiming innocence, but whether or not he is (and could successfully defend himself), looks like the school is going to have to pony up a huge payout.

I guess this is how every modern institution operates these days. It kind of leaves you thinking: when is it our turn? Or are we lucky enough to avoid too much pull from money and influence? Could we survive it?

Not sure what really happened but it doesn’t look good in several respects. Anyway, if there’s any kind of player transfer portal exodus from Northwestern, it sure would be nice to snag a couple guys. We seem to have some good Chicago area ties. Would be good to put them to use if at all possible.

RE: Fitzgerald
My bet is if Northwestern had not been 1-11 last year he would still have his job.

Team 4-20 last two years would get several coaches fired.

It feels like there are no wise old men or great examples to follow, we are all just existing in the chaos and trying to hold on.

Makes the 2016 win over them that much sweeter

Yeah, Running, he's been considered an all-around class-act - "you live long enough to become the villian" or something like that. What a tragedy.

His former bosses listened to the crowd, instead of the findings it seems.
