DavidSt,

Are there any community colleges you could see in D1 in the future?

Currently in D2 Gulf South Conference. Neither sponsor football nor is there any push to start a program so I don’t see why they’d want to move up or what conference they would join.

Quote:Tuskegee

Currently D2 SIAC. A private university with 2,100 students. Would be welcome in the MEAC, not sure if they would want to move up.

Quote:West Alabama

Currently D2 GSC. Never heard of a desire to move up. Small school in the middle of nowhere. Don’t know if they would have a place to go.

Tuskegee's AD in a local paper last year was talking about moving up to join the SWAC one day. The talk was that SWAC at the time want to add Clark Atlanta and Tennessee State.

UAH would fit in with the ASUN's non-football schools.

Arizona Western, Santa Rosa, Bellevue in Washington, Kennedy-King in Chicago. It would be mostly out west. There is already one in Georgia going to 4 year and moving into NAIA.

Do we really need to quote David's 200-school lists?

Need to start giving negative rep to those that don't cut the posts down.

So Upper Iowa's going D1 but not Roberts Wesleyan?

RE: Who will be the next school(s) to move up to Division 1 for the 2024-25 season?
There are three schools that will start moving up to D1:

Central Missouri - to the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
Western Washington - to the Big Sky Conference.
Indianapolis - Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
As I mentioned earlier, one of the most straightforward paths to becoming a D1 athletic director is to elevate the entire athletic program from Division 2 (D2) to Division 1 (D1).

Not sure which is worse.

Software fixes are available - my Arizona sports board that uses same software:

Any post quoted over 12 lines only shows first part, then you have to click to expand

Nested quotes are only 3 deep - drops the older quotes.

Present your evidence openly.

Gonzaga was the only non-football team the Big Sky has ever done, and they were a charter member. Cal State Northridge left when they dropped football.

WWU adds nothing to the Big Sky.

1) Big Sky isn't looking to expand
2) Big Sky is especially not looking to expand with a non-football school (exception would be made for former member Gonzaga )
Do you have any evidence? I do. PM me, if you want.

Present your evidence openly.

Gonzaga was the only non-football team the Big Sky has ever done, and they were a charter member. Cal State Northridge left when they dropped football.

WWU adds nothing to the Big Sky.

Central Washington and Western Oregon make sense in the Big Sky. They would be good replacements for Eastern Washington and Portland State should those two schools drop football.

I think some Big Sky schools would move to the MWC in the future. EWU and Portland State won't drop football since it is part of them being part of the Big Sky Conference in the first place.
