Houck Stadium
I am somewhat surprised at how little is being said about the Houck Stadium update in the press and by the University. The last update I saw was a time-lapse video of the bleacher seats being installed. A friend that works in the athletic department told me that the new field turf has been installed and the chair back seats have been received and are waiting to be installed. Does any of you have any more information on the updates or a timeline for its completion?

It's a good start to the project. If phases 2 & 3 truly come to fruition in drawings I've seen, it will be a fantastic venue for football and soccer. I wish the front arches at the entrance could've been somehow saved, but possibly they were structurally unsound. Looking forward to the season!

I am hoping to be able to come down for one of our 4 games this year. Is the concourse supposed to be done for this year?
Right now the stands part looks pretty similar so I am looking forward to it being fully done to see how it all comes together.

When Hess, Flournoy, DeLauent, Vick, and others start ending a play there, they will look a lot more than "basic"!

The arches were probably structurally unsound when I graduated in 1967! :)

RE: Hoouck Stadium
Are there any updated photos out there of the front of the stadium from the last few days? Last I saw the front view they had put the stairs up to the entrance but no grass around, it or Redhawk logos, signs, stuff like that. Would love to see some more updated pics including the entrance if anyone has any or any links to them.

SEMO ESPN posted drone photos on their Facebook page on August 22 which may have been what you saw.
https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=semo%20espn

The university has not updated the Houck Stadium information on the Facilities page on the athletics website either.

I drove by there this weekend, it looks pretty normal. Nothing special for sure.

I know that the press box for south side is supposed to be next on the list. Has anyone heard if that will be the only thing done in the off-season or will they also start on the north side grandstand or building in the east endzone at the same time?

From what I heard the Press Box won't be done by next year. I'm not sure where they stand on the money.

I had heard the press box need was very urgent, especially if they want to host a playoff game again, so if they can't get that part going by next season that doesnt bode very well for the timeline of the overall project.

Makes sense considering Erik Sean had to sit at the River Campus and watch 8 different TVs to call the game.

I hope they are planning to put some kind of cool signage at the front, it looks so bare out there. Considering the space I love what they did with concourse, big complaint was lines for concessions (made sure we got ours before the game). Also the bathroom configuration at least the Men's room closest to the field house is configure in such a strange way. There is a small hallway with the paper towels right where everyone enters so causes congested and is just a weird spot to put paper towels

The mockups of the stadium showed big red REDHAWKS letters in front of the stadium and a big Redhawk logo above the entry doorway area. Everything else looks just like the original illustrations did so maybe they just havent fabricated and installed the letters and Redhawk logo yet.

RE: Houck Stadium
So at the Homecoming Block Party thing, President Vargas just made his announcement about the big capital campaign and some different improvements on campus and then mentioned the press box and a building in the east end zone. I don't know if he meant that those two parts of the expansion will be done simultaneously and are the next two steps...not really sure if that's what he was saying or if he was just mentioning those things. Did anyone else here the announcements.

From the release just posted by KFVS: Work to raise funds for the next phase of the Houck multipurpose development which includes the press box.
Also, SEMO has been raising money in its "silent phase" of the campaign and is already 64% on its way to the goal. Goal is $60 million.

Image 8 of this release from February of 2022 probably explains in part why they have 64% of the $60 million already committed - luxury boxes beneath the press box. https://www.krcu.org/2022-02-02/going-pu...ck-stadium

Isn't that from the original plan that was scrapped. They had one plan where all of the phases were preplanned then the materials came back to high and I thought the plan after that was to rebid and plan each phase just before they did it. So they know generally what they are doing but will finalize and release specifics just before the phase like they did with the south grandstand. Thats why the south grandstand doesn't look like it does in these pictures. Before they did the south grandstand last year they released the new pictures and video which were different then the old plan.
