RE: USM fans
Never met anyone who HATED Ward's....with all due respect, the idea that it's beloved mostly by country (ie "rural") folk is hilarious my friend (since EVERYONE in Miss'sippi are basically country folks 03-lmfao)...maybe you were thinking of Cracker Barrel.
Grew up on Frostop LotoBurgers and hot dawgs and then Ward's Big Ones and hot dawgs....and the root beer in a mug is the best in all the land (and I do like Barq's as well)...
Anyhoo, to each his/her own...

I missed that one. Who said they hated Ward's?

My wife is the one that turned me on to Ward's. They used to have one in Ruston when she was growing up but it shut down years ago. I vaguely remember it from those days. I've always hit one of the many along 49 on our way to Destin.

I had someone tell me if I can't eat at home and I have to eat fast food I'll go to Ward's. That's about as close as I've seen to someone not liking it.

15. Short years ago I can recall crossing Hardy daily where Fuzys is now located to head to class from the parking lot on 31st that no longer exists.

25 years ago I made the same crossing daily, but from my dor, Elam Arms. Had it's own pool and I could run next door to Subway fora meal during a football game's commercial :)

Alos, Cookouts is a national chain. I like it too. Ward's though? A favorite that I connect directly to Southern Miss, as my family moved from Hattiesburg to Columbus (MS) when I was 4, so we only got it when in H'burg.

I lived down the road from Elam. I know that Subway. We rented a house that was between the small apartment complex and the daycare that no longer exists.. It's a wonder I'm not on some kind of list somewhere.

But Wards is a delicacy especially the Root Beer...

Cookout is not necessarily a national chain as much as a Southern chain.. Originated in the Carolinas and they've expanded slowly.

Given most of my travels are Southern, that tracks. We have them in TN and I ate at one in Mytrle Beach in June (vacation).

I first encountered one in NC.. Over the last few years I've seen them in GA, TN, AL, and MS...

RE: USM fans
If I could choose any fast food meal, I would take a Ward's Big One (no onions) combo with a rootbeer in the frozen mug.
