Exclamation Big 12 Media Days 7/12-7/13
Televised on ESPNU and ESPN+...

Quote:The Cincinnati football program's inaugural Big 12 season turns another page on Thursday, July 13 with Big 12 Media Day, presented by Old Trapper, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Head coach Scott Satterfield will be in attendance alongside transfer quarterback Emory Jones, sophomore defensive lineman Dontay Corleone, senior defensive lineman Jowon Briggs and senior defensive back/linebacker Deshawn Pace.

Jones started 20 games at Florida and Arizona State, totaling 48 touchdowns. Corleone was PFF's top-rated defensive player in the nation last year and earned Third-Team All-America honors from the Associated Press. He also joined Briggs on the AAC First Team. Pace is a two-year starter who had 94 tackles and a team-high four interceptions on the 2021 College Football Playoff team. All three defensive representatives are Cincinnati natives.

ESPNU and Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will provide television coverage beginning at Noon CT on Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. CT on Thursday. Cincinnati is joined by UCF, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and West Virginia at its session.

3 Cincinnati natives that have been in the program for awhile and the likely starting QB. Love the guys picked and looking forward to their comments!

I am keeping my season expectations tame but I am pumped for UC program and fans to finally have true high level football (no knock on BE but they were seen as 6th conference still most years we were apart) with passionate fanbases across the board. Can’t wait to visit the opposing stadiums myself over the coming years as well and get a true sense of Big 12 culture. I only have a good feel of Houston and Dallas in my lifetime.

I posted on the B12 board that I see 6-6 as the floor for the season. The more I look at our roster and the fact that we play 7 games in the Nip give me a fairly optimistic outlook. Anything better than .500 is gravy...

Basically my feeling as well. This should be a 6-8 win team... anything beyond that they'll need qb play to be really good and to hit on their transfer wide receivers m

We really caught a break in our conference schedule for Year One. No Texas. No TCU. No Kansas St. Oklahoma, Iowa St., Baylor, UCF and Kansas at home. Away BYU, Okie St., Houston, WVU.

I can't get that OLine out of my head from the UL bowl game. If OLine is average agree with you. If not, not sure what to expect from offense.

Most of the DL is returning. Most of the QB and RB room remains the same. Same all-world punter. Deshawn Pace. Chamon Metayer. Not to mention some quality we got in the transfer portal - WR, OL, LB, OLB/DE, DB - don't feel like listing the names but Da'Ville, Zona St, Florida among others. That's a start...

I know a lot of people on here rail on the Enquirer/Cincinnati.com, but ever since Scott Springer was put on the UC beat he has really put in the effort. Couple of articles that are on there now:

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/...315662007/

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/...314568007/

Quote:How Big 12 prestige has impacted recruiting

Football coach Scott Satterfield's crew just had a huge recruiting weekend and top-notch players continue to visit and/or commit. Earlier this summer, UC's 2024 class was rated higher than any of the other Big 12 schools though they hadn't yet played a game at Nippert Stadium in the new league. As of June 11, the Bearcats were still second among the 2024 rankings trailing only Texas Tech.

“It’s a lot of talk for media people and fans and that type of thing,” Satterfield said. “If you’re not picked high, you’ve got to go out there and prove it. As a coach, you have to prove it anyway. I think we’re putting together a football team that’s going to be very competitive to go out there and compete in the Big 12.”

Men's basketball coach Wes Miller has also experienced success selling the Big 12 and trails only Iowa State, Baylor and Kansas State among Big schools (as of June 11) in rankings via 247Sports.com for the 2024 class.

“The Big 12 has changed our ability to recruit in a lot of ways,” Miller said. “The impact of the recruiting goes back to the announcement of going to the Big 12. Any kid knowing they would play in the Big 12 their incoming year, it’s impacted that recruiting.”

Good lord. We're picked 13th.

Time to start the self loathing and pearl clutching.

I would wager BIG money UC finishes higher than 13th.

"Pre Season Polls" mean nothing... especially the media ones.

The only poll that means anything is the last one of the season.
