As the viral video clearly states, that mosquito factory belongs to World Mosquito Program.

The World Mosquito Program actually has a number of mosquito breeding facilities worldwide. The Medellin mosquito factory is merely its biggest. To be clear – Bill Gates does not own any of them.

The claim that those are genetically-modified mosquitoes is false. Those are regular Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that have not been genetically modified.

As the video itself explained, the mosquitoes are only being infected with the Wolbachia bacteria, which are extremely common bacteria found naturally in 50% of insect species.

The World Mosquito Program also clearly stated on its website that it does not genetically modify any mosquito:

But, I can take some of what they say as probably true. It is not Bill Gates that OWNS it but his foundation has provided funding for it. The World Mosquito Program is a Monash University Project (Australia) and in 2022, Gates gave $33.7 million and $124.6 million since 2010.

Well, sorry, chap. If you don't like it, don't post a tweet trying to ridiculously blame Bill Gates for 5 cases of malaria in the US when all he did was donate to a global program trying to eradicate malaria which is a huge problem in many parts of the world.

Perhaps a bit more research on this program and others first? One other such program directly released mosquitos in the State of Florida apparently with the approval of Ron DeSantis' Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Of course in this article, you'll see that these particular mosquitos released do not actually bite or acquire a blood meal to survive.

And from what I read today, they found 4 cases in Florida, and 1 in Texas.

This is not really an issue currently.

Ah interesting. Here's a random example that definitely didn't happen: it would be like the NIH sending a grant to the EcoHealth Alliance to fund the Wuhan Lab in China for gain of function research?
