Enjoyed the podcast. It was mentioned that the players would prefer $8000 cash to a $8000 locker. We have done well updating facilities during the latest arms race. Now the battlefield is NIL. I would like to know if the cash being spread around the P5 programs is new money raised for the NIL or if some of the media rights money ends up in the NIL coffers.
Seems like the rich P5 programs are going to be able to blow the poor(less rich) P5 programs away with NIL. As those poor programs lose good players to their conference brothers the winds of change will blow again. AAC/MWC/SBC teams will have common interests with possibly a majority of P5 teams that will be losing players to the few true Powers of the P5.

At this point all NIL money is from donors or brands or fans who purchased services / goods from athletes. The school and school employees cannot be directly involved in these deals in most states although some such as Texas are revising their laws to stop the NCAA from prohibiting or penalizing school involvement. Alabama probably will follow with a change to its law.

There probably will come a day in the future where athletes share in the media deals for at least football and basketball.

There is a talk space re: WVU job where they've let a lot of school-specific accounts if you want to join:

WVU Coach Change TalkSpace

EDIT: swapped to D3 chatter when no one offered to talk WVU/UAB any longer
