Furman sucks. And Furman will always suck, because Furman sucking is not contingent on App’s conference or division. It’s contingent on the suckiness of Furman.

Obligatory: **** Furman.

I like how Pat Conroy referred to Furman in "My Losing Season". Said they were called "Vermin"

Our SID from the 90's came from Furman and always called them the Vermin. Said they should have a rat logo on the helmet.

we had a fan make and sell tshirts back in the FCS days that when worn normally didn't really make much sense, but when folded up on itself the right way said F*** FURMAN (without the ***). 04-cheers

Appalachian State has Georgia Southern, Marshall, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Louisiana, and Western Carolina listed

Arkansas State has Memphis

Coastal Carolina has Liberty and Appalachian State

Georgia Southern has Appalachian State and Georgia State

Georgia State has Georgia Southern

James Madison has Old Dominion

Louisiana has ULM, Lamar, McNeese State, and Southeastern Louisiana

Louisiana-Monroe has Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, and Northwestern State

Marshall has Appalachian State, Ohio, East Carolina, and West Virginia

Old Dominion has James Madison

South Alabama has Troy

Southern Miss has Louisiana Tech, Memphis, and Tulane

Texas State has UTSA and Nicholls

Troy has Middle Tennessee and South Alabama

I would have to add new member, Southern Miss to South's short list. After all they are only 97 miles up the road.

Then you have Memphis, who will tell you a hundred times over that we are not a rival.

UALR remains the closest thing we have a true rivalry in any sport, and with them out of the SBC, I'm not sure it will be particularly easy to maintain that level of energy, even if both schools are fine playing each other regularly.

I completely agree I think while they’ll always be some interest in astate/LR, it will definitely dwindle (If UCA ever finds a way to get FBS that would certainly become our main rivals)

Don't you guys play UALR OOC?? It's a rivalry. Why not keep it going?? I'm not to keen on the idea of UCA going to FBS. For the record, I wasn't too keen on Jax State moving up either, but they are here now.

Let me guess..... This list was written by either an lsu&a&mc@baton rouge fan or a LaTech fan. Of the ones listed only ULM is even remotely a rival. If you had asked a UL fan, or a UL present or former athlete, that list would have included LaTech, USM, stAte and South Alabama, and if they were talking strictly about stick and ball sports, lsu&a&mc@baton rouge and possibly Alabama, aTm and Baylor.
It’s an awful list.

Hate List: LaTech, stAte, Tulane, Louisiana State, South, and Southern Miss.

Honorable mention: App, Coastal, WKU, Troy, Houston, Rice and ULM.

After we were nicknamed Covid Carolina by Louisiana posters in 2020, I'd put the Ragin' Cajuns on our list! James Madison's got some feisty fans too and definitely could see the Dukes becoming another team we'd rejoice beating and really hate losing to more than most match-ups.04-chairshot Hopefully, the Sun Belt stays as is for a while so rivalries can fester and new hatred between schools is born 05-stirthepot...

Yeah, but it has to be approved by their Gestapo admin. I have been banned from Wikipedia for "having multiple user names." I don't think I did, and if I did, it was probably because I couldn't remember my Wikipedia name. Whatever. Even though my ban is up on two days, I am done with Wikipedia!!

RE: Your football rivals (according to Wikipedia)
Here's the thing... Define "rival"? (and no we're not using Wikipedia, but Winsipedia

I've seen some people say "any game series you've played regularly"
I've seen some people say "any game series in which you've played regularly and have been reasonably similar records in history".

So would I consider Alabama a rival for USM? By definition 1, yes. By definition 2.. Nope.
Sort of like.. most USM fans consider Tulane a rival (by definition 1, makes sense, but by defintion 2 - 24-9 w/l record for USM? Not a rival?)

Would it include Historical rivalries? If so, I'd include any of the Louisiana schools that go back to the Great Gulf Conference. But nobody seems to consider LaTech a rivalry for USM. (52 gamers, with a 35-17 Win/Loss record?)

Is it a team from previous conferences that we had to play a lot? Tulane, Memphis come to mind.

Is there a trophy involved? This would put LaTech back on the list. (the Dix), Memphis (black and blue bowl), Tulane (Battle of the Bell)

So "define" rivalry for me in a full-scope and then I'll tell you...
"Is USM playing you this week? Then you're my team's rival for the week, and I hope we kick your asses".

honestly, for JMU there is no school we hate more than U of Richmond...but that's more cultural (we laugh when SBCers think WE are snobby...) than sports-related at this point - it was a good series 10 years ago, but since then it's been nothing but beat downs

I'll be honest, there are not many people that feel that UALR are rivals at all. The closest that we have to a rival, who will actually play us, is the Cajuns. I also hope UCA never becomes FBS along with every FCS team from this point forward.

Now that’s funny right there. But in JMU’s case, don’tcha have to win one before you can call their opponent a “rival”? Sadly, as of this moment the NCAA Appeals Board is undefeated vs. JMU.

I’ve refrained from commenting on your numerous posts about Troy having a pharmacy school because I don’t want it to seem like I’m a contrarian just because I’m a South Alabama fan. But the reason Auburn doesn’t want you to have a pharmacy school is because we don’t need another pharmacy school. We need less pharmacy schools, not more. At least that was the case prior to the pandemic.

The reality is we are already producing too many pharmacist graduates and that number has outpaced pharmacist demand. A lot of pharmacy graduates can’t land jobs or can only land part time jobs. Oversupply also leads to decreased pay, reduced hours, and less than ideal working conditions. With that said, COVID disrupted everything and there might be a demand for pharmacists again. But with the explosion of pharmacy schools that we saw since about 2000 I would expect the graduates to still outpace the pharmacy openings.

I used to be a little peeved when USA announced a joint venture with Auburn for pharmacy instead of having an independent school, but it now makes sense why that is. USA has access to provide education for pharmacists to go along with our med school but it’s not additional pharmacists created to flood the workforce. But rather Auburn has a certain number of graduates each year and a portion of them will go through the joint program at USA.

With South Alabama, there are only 3 total pharmacy schools in the state, Auburn & Samford being the other two. I'm surprised that Auburn didn't raise holy heck when Columbus State University was established in Georgia, because they are practically right across the Chattahoochee from Auburn. That is something that has never made sense to me considering it's a very short drive or it looks like a short drive from Auburn to Columbus, GA on the map. But then again, EMU is only 30 miles from the University of Michigan, so go figure.
