So if you are the MWC, why do you provide SDSU with an extension?

Well, either the Pac is stringing them along or SDSU is just very optimistic about their chances of an invite.

The message is "we don't want to add you if we don't have to."

I'm guessing they have to hope for the Big 12, because they don't have a Pac-12 invitation according to Pete Thamel.

One Aztec poster on here has said they basically have a PAC invite but the TV deal is holding everything up.

Zero chance they dont have a pending invite to either the BIG XII or PAC.

So they are gone. They will accept a PAC 12 offer, if that fall through they accept a Big 12 offer (if there is one).

these next 2 weeks are gonna be something I think.

They dont have an official PAC invitation, right now. That could be true.

They basically put in their two weeks notice and then asked for another two weeks lol

I thought they might do exactly what Louisville did. Between the PAC and B12, I think they'll have an invitation to one of them.

Im sure theres been discussions with representatives from both conferences.

This notice is basically asking to waive or delay the Exit fee from doubling/tripling.

As a CFB fan living in San Diego, I wonder what this will do to the Aztecs popularity.

There are already a lot of football fans who have ditched the Chargers in protest of their move. So they'd be looking for a new show in town.

The new stadium is sweet. (As long as the TV networks stop putting their games on at noon in September [when it's normally 95 degrees in Mission Valley])

Not only are their lots of San Diego county alumni of nearby Pac-12 schools to boost interest in SDSU games...but it's a fair weather sports town. This place was berzerk for the Dodgers and Phillies series last fall...every school had dress up day...businesses took half days... If you bring Utah and Oregon and Cal and Arizona in for home games each year and square off the Atzecs against the other 5 for away games on TV, interest in the Aztecs will soar.

(That said, being a fair-weather town also means that if SDSU is a perennial 3-9 team in the Pac-12...fans will ignore them very quickly)
