Recruiting dead period:

“A dead period for recruiting begins Thursday, April 4 and runs through Thursday, April 11. Here is the definition of a dead period, per the NCAA: A dead period is that period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the member institution’s campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution’s campus” from online reference

Thank you.

Too often people read words and assume that the English words are self explanatory.

In this case 'no in-person contact' might describe better the situation.

We offer 6'9! Miles Michell a native Detroit area player at Warren Lincoln who attended TLAP Prep in Florida this past year.

Thanks for sharing this, 79. I am hoping to see more offers to big men, as we only have 3 on roster.

Based on his Twitter account, looks like he was committed to Long Beach St before the coaching change. I have a feeling this will be a “Long” shot to pick up. 03-lmfao Would love his height and shot blocking, but probably will be a lot of mid major competition for a guy not from the area… nonetheless glad to see the shift in recruiting focus towards big men.

Hard to think about recruiting HS kids because if they're good they'll be gone after 1 or 2 years. That said, you still need to recuit them so that you can perhaps get them when they transfer from their first choice.

UDM Coach Montgomery stole him away from EMU. His Twitter now says UDM.

He was the EMU director of basketball operations prior to that. But always seemed like one of the assistant coaches on the sidelines. It is a big loss for us.

Not to toot my own horn, but I called Coach Stone’s departure a ways back.
https://twitter.com/rs_tweeter/status/17...9228704247

EMU offered Miles Mitchel on April 2.

Then on April 3, UDM announces their hire of Coach Montgomery. And UDM offered Miles Mitchell that same day. In Mitchell’s tweet he thanks “Coach Montgomery and Coach Stone.” I could see the writing on the wall.

With the new unrestricted transfer rules, I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose Legend Geeter, as Coach Stone was his high school coach. Knock on wood he stays at EMU.

Here is the 2024 Mi H.S. boy's basketball Dream Team.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports...197948007/

Gee, I believe the 1990 or 1991 Detroit Southwestern team had Jalen Rose, Vashon Leonard and Howard Eisley. Three NBA players.

The 2024 dream team has 3 seniorrs, one going to UofM and one to Toledo and Wright State..

All the players who entered the transfer portal are off our roster except Martynov. I wonder if he has decided to stay?

I don’t think so. He was the last player to enter, so I think they have not updated the website in a while. Lamonta Stone is still there too, but switched to UDM on April 3.
