According to the NCAA’s updated attendance through 5/28 UTRGV averaged 1,515 per game. UTRGV is in the top 50 of total attendance over the entire year, but not in the top 50 of per game average attendance. In that metric they finished #53.

Here is the rest of the SBC:
67 South Alabama - 1,206
79 ULM - 909
115 App State - 528
142 Georgia State - 412
152 James Madison - 387
159 Old Dominion - 372
181 Arkansas State - 295
182 Marshall - 295

I am amazed we are higher than four other Belt teams. Maybe we'll get a bump with a new stadium someday. Maybe.

Great job to the fanbases who really repped the league. Have to hand it to GS for doing that well in a fairly down year...

RE: National Top 50 Avg Attendance Leaders
USA started (and ended) poorly and that’s reflected in our attendance. We started 5-5 in our first 10 games but part of that was us getting swept by Nebraska that was previously winless. The we limped to 7-13 in our first 20 games. We tied our all-time longest losing streak (7 games) but beat Louisiana to prevent breaking that record. But then we ended with a 10 game losing streak to set a new record. We have to have a bounce back year next year or things will get ugly.

Considering only the second half of the season GS wouldn't have sniffed the top 100.

Like I did when UTA was in the Sun Belt, I keep track of all attendance of the Mavs conference mates.

I went back and re-looked at the numbers and the two doubleheader games that have a dash, essentially taking a zero for that game, were counted in the overall average.

I don't count them if there's no number. If the games are going to be counted in the average, at a bare minimum, the game with a dash should be counted with the other games attendance number.

We are 9th our correct number is 5,276

My post on attendance

App St. should work to double their attendance given their recent success and their facilities.

I think the SBC office should put together a plan to make all SBC members in the top 50 in attendance. or above 1600.

JMU baseball certainly gives their fans their money’s worth…with zero admissions cost. 03-phew

Totally embarrassing. JMU numbers aren’t even those of a good DIII program. Ironically, JMU inhabits a strong prep baseball footprint in the Shenandoah Valley, but locals won’t support a loser, and our AD won’t can a mediocre coach. Virginia was in much the same boat until they hired a HC who knew how to recruit and win. It’s very frustrating to those of us who love college baseball.

Agree. That’s a reasonable and obtainable goal.

Your current coach couldn't even win at VMI. Very strange that JMU hired him.

I saw your list on the WAC board and was confused when I saw this one. Makes sense now. So UTRGV is off the list officially then.

our coach was on a Sun Belt podcast this week talking about our attendance and said we hit the $1,000.000 mark this year off baseball ticket sales.

Yes, admission to JMU baseball is free. And even free attendance is lousy.

It was a bad hire from the get-go. Even worse that he’s been retained at JMU for 8 seasons, and it’s expected that he’ll be given an extension for at least two more years. He’s been a D1 HC for over 14 years with ZERO NCAA appearances, and a career record that’s sub .500. It’s beyond belief how many excuses our AD has made to keep him on the payroll at $110k+ per year. This past SBC season was his best performance at JMU. #SAD
