An additional conference challenge would be nice like Matt and Shane were discussing in the replies. A SoCon / SBC challenge would be a knockout.

Good luck trying to game a system that is already gamed.

The only reason we have NET is because the so-called 'mid majors' learned how to game the RPI. Anyone who thinks that the NET is better for folks like us than RPI was needs to quit doing whatever drug they are doing.

Let's say your 25 in rpi and playing a 250 rpi team. You will lose rpi even if you win by 30 points. If you win by 30 in NET your NET ranking goes up since it is offensive efficiency - defensive efficiency.

Not that it matters much. Even if we stayed with rpi there have been teams in the 20's rpi that have been left out. So the NCAA doesn't need a computer ranking to be biased to leave someone out. For the record the highest NET ranking left out of the NCAA tourney was NC State at 33.

Also schools in the Mountain West, CUSA, and ASUN all finished in the top 50 net.

Once again not that it matters that much. Just like with rpi it's wins vs quad 1 that get you in. Not your ranking. People always focus on that number so hard when they have been entirely consistent that it's not really so much your final number that matters. Otherwise NC State would be in. But, they lost to almost every good team they played.

RE: MBB - plan to increase NET
The SBC as a conference 1-18 in Quad one games last year. The Mountain West was 24-59 with 3 fewer schools.

The Southland Conference [1-24] played more Quad 1 games than the SBC [1-18] with four fewer schools.

The SWAC [0-45] played more Quad 1 games than the SBC with 2 fewer schools.

The MEAC [0-27] played more quad 1 games than the SBC with only 8 schools.

Yes, I know that probably all or nearly all of the SLC, SWAC and MEAC Quad 1 games were road games.

That is an excuse for not scheduling better, not a reason.

Also, 5 of the 14 SBC schools had 0 Quad 1 games.

The top 4 finishers in the SBC last year were a combined 6-18 vs Quad 1 [1-6] and Quad 2 [5-12].

Regardless, we may have to brace for a down year for SBC basketball in this upcoming season. I see this league losing a lot of 4th, 5th, 6th year guys who made big plays for their respective teams.

Yeah, but thats going to happen in every mid major conference so it should even out. Actually might hurt the stronger mid majors more since they have more to lose.

For some of us, losing those guys is an improvement...
