Either that or they’re pulling their hair out over Charlotte showing back up at the front door after leaving them on the side of the road a decade ago.

Most ECU fans don't like the Charlotte addition.

Yes, they're an in-state conference opponent, which is something we haven't had in decades. But if that was the most important criteria, I would have preferred App State.

But they're in... and we're looking forward to an easy W on the football schedule. So it is what it is.

If I was reading this without context I would have thought it was an old post from Georgia Southern regarding Georgia State. You better watch out for Charlotte; they might get up to play you guys.

Well, they're your problem now, along with their obnoxious poster that says everything in 3rd person. Oh, they're never gonna expand their stadium, they struggle to get 5k people in there to start with.

I'm just glad to be done with him and C-USA. I don't think it's even possible to overstate how much of a mess things were.

It's the first I'm hearing of this. I knew ECU had a role in promoting UNCC and ODU, but they vouched for schools like Middle Tennessee State and Florida International too?

Think ECU pushed for UNCC to the AAC also? They want a "little brother" nearby to beat up on?

I think ECU has wanted a regional conference rival for a while. Of course, this is the same school that pushed for two nearby schools to be added (ODU and UNCC) only to immediately leave them, so I guess a short-term financial gain is more important to the Pirates at the end of the day.05-stirthepot

In the early 2010s, it's rumored that ECU pushed for App to be added to CUSA, but couldn't get anyone else in CUSA on board. When ECU realized that, they started pushing for UNCC to be added instead. So there's history there, with ECU bringing UNCC into a conference.

Judy and co seem to have their mind set on making it a texas centric league, even if that means adding St Judith sisters of the poor at Brownsville.

Schools like SFA, Tarleton and Abilene Christian are said to be in the pipeline. And the saddest part is SHSU and the other newbies seem excited about that.

Literally no one in CUSA would be happy about Tarleton or ACU. SFA makes sense if we added another in Texas but just about everyone is happy at 10. I’m not sure where you’re seeing they are in the pipeline? Tarleton reached out in the last wave but never was seriously considered.

Not sure what the MT hate is about but I can certainly understand FIU. I wouldn’t mind them if they weren’t on such an island and if they had some fans.

Charlotte and ECU are the only teams from C-USA I miss playing. Hopefully we get a series with them soon. Love that school and will be rooting for them in the American. However I am happy to not have to deal with that poster

Why Charlotte? I just don't see where they bring much to the table for anyone outside of NC, and even for NC schools we just want to beat them due to their obnoxious fan base. Their football is a joke and their basketball has been mediocre to bad for over a decade now.

To me, the SBC East is great because it's the "endgame" of what the schools wanted. Sure, Marshall fans would probably like it if we add WKU, and both Marshall and ODU would love to add ECU, but it's still essentially what they wanted.

I applaud Marshall and ODU for having a clear vision and pursuing it. I feel at least those two, App, JMU, and probably Coastal are very close now. That's a solid crew, and the group might be larger than that.

The best case scenario unfolded for Marshall and ODU. I'm telling you, people had been unhappy in Huntington for a long time. I think this also shows that there was blood in the water before realignment even started. I know for a fact that Marshall, ODU and SoMiss (and UAB for that matter) were exploring options back in 2019.

We had several options being explored.

1. Spliting CUSA into two separate conferences.
2. Creating a new Mid Atlantic / East Coast conference with a mixture of CUSA East and SBC East schools.
3. Joining the SBC.

There are several posters on other boards that keep repeating that Marshall, ODU, and SoMiss only left CUSA after the AAC made their pick and that we left in a panic or were scared. The honest truth is that the wheels were in motion in 2019 and that the AAC pick just sped everything up.

I still wonder how much it was Mike Hamrick that held back. I get the impression that Marshall's skeleton in the closet is that him and ECU's AD had enormous leeway in designing C-USA East 3.0 from the ground up. It was done in exchange for supporting MacLeod in creating a Texas-centric West division.

Either that or they’re pulling their hair out over Charlotte showing back up at the front door after leaving them on the side of the road a decade ago.

What's funny is that some of the Charlotte fans across the street are seeing themselves as on par with ECU now that they're in the same conference. A lot of attempts at throwing ECU under the bus institutionally and athletically for some weird reason.

Coming from UNCC fans, it's RICH.

Charlotte???

They were one of the main reasons CUSA was so miserably awful. I would be glad to have split ways with them.

I just can’t stop smiling that the AAC actually took them. I mean, they added to the bottom quarter of their SOS, but I guess they’re easy to fly to. And ECU can basically buy all the tickets as the away team.
