We went to Thursday's game, and sat through a few innings today. Didn't seem like the same two teams on the field today.

Good luck in the tournament, Broncos. Kent looks unstoppable but hope we can do it.

What’s the old Jim Leyland line…”momentum is basically your next day’s starting pitcher”. So much depends on who you got on the mound on any given day!

I was hoping that we would avoid Kent State in the first round. Now we have to deal with them.

Not bad considering we were picked to finish 7th in the conference.

The other 3 teams (Ball, CMU, Kent) were picked in the Top 3 in the pre-season poll.

Going into the tourney on a bit of a downer as our #1 or #2 pitcher left either the first or second CMU game after colliding with our catcher on the 3rd out pop up. Only pitched 1 inning. Not sure of his availability for the tournament but heard it was a nasty collision that did something to the pitcher’s knee. Not good.

Entering 6th Inning
Still Broncos 2-0

Floodgates opened up in the 8th inning, so that'll probably do it. 6-3 Kent State.

Thanks for the updates. I couldn't find the score anywhere - the Bronco twitter or WMUbroncos.com, or the ESPN college baseball scoreboard.

Ball State leads CMU 7-5 going into the 9th. We'll play the loser of that game.

EDIT: We'll play CMU tomorrow at 12:30.

Down 3-0 to CMU, end of 3rd Inning.

Wonder if losing our slim late lead at Kent State yesterday took some wind out of our sails.

Broncos get a pair in the top of the 7th to make it 3-2.

Then CMU immediately gets two back against a relief pitcher, which I fear might be the dagger.

CMU 5-2. Heading into the 8th.

And that's a wrap. Broncos lose 5-2 and go winless in the MAC tourney.

Can't get down on them... Picked 7th of 11 teams in the pre-season poll. CMU was picked 2nd.

First time we have made MAC tourney-playoffs since 2016.

Unfortunately this is probably ceiling for the program.

I don't follow baseball closely. But do we have a youngish, up and coming team where we can make another run next season? Based on your post, doesn't sound like it?

Hard to say. About 2/3 of our roster is freshman or sophomores (including red shirts).

But that includes only two of our top nine hitters and none of our top three pitchers from this season.

Didn't they win the MAC tourney and go to the NCAA that year?
