I can't believe Clark got called for a tech on that play with the ball. She didn't slam it down in disgust or throw in the direction of a ref or player. Tiki-tack in a natty chip game IMO.

I umpired baseball and softball. No official should call a technical foul for language, which was the explanation, especially in a championship, high emotion game, unless that language is directed very audibly at the official. If it is said walking away and at a volume only heard on the field you go deaf! It is inexcusable officiating, but this team of officials has sucked horribly both ways and for inconsistent reasons.

Iowa gasping now. LSU has been just too much with pin point shooting and domination on the glass - 32 to 21 - 12 to 4 offensive.

I tolerate your anti SEC sentiment most of the time, but it's wearing damn thin!

There is no way you can say that technical on Clark was fair. That's as bad of a call as I've ever seen in a title game. Meanwhile, Mulkey has been out on the floor deserving a technical, but the refs are scared to death of her. Hey it's smart strategy if you can get away with it.

And me anti-SEC? folks hate me here because I'm pro SEC in football so much.

My comments on that call are specific and public.

Very impressed with LSU's Reece. I know Carson was volcano hot from treyland in the first half but Reece has been a steady-eddie inside all game long. Look at this stat line...

15 points
10 boards
4 assists
3 steals
1 block

Mulkey was the difference, an all-time great coach.

RE: NCAA Women's National Championship Game: Iowa vs LSU
Match ups. LSU matched up well against Iowa. The officiating was terrible the whole tournament for the women. It was weak in the men's tournament as it had been all season long in several of the conferences. The talent for officiating is less in women's hoops. Virginia Tech would have matched up well with Iowa. Iowa matched up well with South Carolina. In both games however the Iowa big girl was rough as a cob in terms of physical play. It was called today. It wasn't against South Carolina likely because they can play just as rough.

The issue today with the officiating was in the first half they called some legit and illegit fouls on both sides, but when they looked up after quarter #1 they waited until halfway in the quarter #2 and made a rash of quick calls to even out the fouls. That was weak. The technical on Clark was horrendous and inexcusable. Whether Mulkey impacted that or not is on the officials, not the coaches. This crew called touch fouls sometimes and other times not. They called a couple of traveling calls correctly and called a one step shot a travel on another occasion. Johnson for LSU technically palms the ball on a dribble drive, and that wasn't called at all. Some rebounders were bodied out of bounds, no foul, and that went both ways, but a reach up and over to the ball was a foul.

It was just pitiful and the players didn't really know how to adjust, and that made it even worse, and unforgiveable in a championship game.

First and foremost. Congratulations to the Lady Tigers and Coach Mulkey! They are a damn good team and say what you want about Kim's flash or style, but she's a hall of fame coach - winning her 4th chip and in her second year with a new team and new players.

Congratulations to the Lady Hawkeyes and Coach Bluder! Another great team that took down undefeated South Carolina making a great run for the title. Caitlin Clark is one of a kind and will be back for another season.

Finally, after I gave recognition to Angel Reese's play, she has to get in Clark's face after the game waiving her hand and pointing to a chip ring. I don't know if anything was said earlier in the game but there's no place for poor sportsmanship let alone on the biggest of stages. Somebody can post it later as I'm sure that incident will be on twittersphere.

I couldn't agree more with this summation.

A classless gesture in which she reflects poorly upon herself, and her school and its accomplishment.

How was LSU a #3 seed despite having only 2 losses, one of which was to South Carolina?
