Looked at the roster and do not see a #48 https://umassathletics.com/sports/football/roster
Went back and watched the OL a little more. I honestly don’t remember who did and did not play last year as I only caught of handful of UMASS action. I’m guessing the starting group after the spring would be:
LT - Hassard
LG - Garcia
C - Atwood
RG - Mottinger
RT - Vasher
Vasher doesn’t seem to have the size and length of a traditional tackle, but he moves well. I suppose Mottinger and Vasher could always be flipped.
Interested to see what the incoming transfers look like. The biggest adjust for all of them will be getting in playing shape for FBS ball. Terlaak in particular is going to have to shed some lbs. I think Terlaak, Heath, and Anderson have the potential to make the two deep and contribute to better OL play in 2023.
I still have no idea who LB #48 is.

Great interview. I updated the recruiting class, but a number of players still need ratings.
I still think Haston sees starting time before the year is out. Especially after hearing Brown talk about every player having the opportunity to run with the 1’s at some point.

Thanks a bunch. For the first time being FBS, we are at 85 scholarship players with 3 announced last week. The best is Isaiah Rutherford as we really stacked up with Arizona transfers.

Our #48 mystery has been solved. It’s Arizona transfer Jerry Roberts. No wonder he was so impressive.
Unless something drastically changes over the next month, here is my prediction:
At NMSU = Loss. First game breaking in a new QB against an underrated NMSU squad. Add in the fact that it’s basically an East Coast/West Coast game puts most of the chips in the Aggies favor.
At Auburn = Loss. Best time to play the Tigers is early in the season, but going into Jordan-Hare and getting a win is too big of an ask.
Vs Miami (OH) = Win. The RedHawks should have a solid squad this year. However, Miami will be in the midst of 3 straight away games. This matchup is sandwiched between Miami (FL) and Cincinnati. Good chance to snag an “upset.”
At Eastern Michigan = Loss. That being said, this very well could be a win. Especially if EMU gets into a drag out with Minnesota the week before. For now, going with the Eagles.
Vs New Mexico = Win. I expect the Lobos to be one of the worst teams in football this year.
Vs Arkansas State = Win. The Redwolves have been anything but impressive under Butch Jones.
Vs Toledo = Loss. Toledo is one of the most talented teams in the MAC from top to bottom. However, the Rockets tend to drop a game or two they shouldn’t any given year, so who knows for sure?
At Penn State = Loss. Going away and beating what should be an upper echelon P5 team is unlikely to happen.
At Army = Loss. Honestly, I see this as a swing game. NCAA has changed the blocking rules which will affect the military schools running the option. Army may not be nearly the challenge they’ve been in years past.
Vs Merrimack = Win. No more to add here.
At Liberty = Loss. Jamey Chadwell will probably have his offense clicking at this point. Not the best week to have the Flames on the schedule.
Vs UCONN = Win. Revenge will be sweet for the Minutemen.
Total = 5-7.
What do you think? Ready to make some predictions?

Think 5-7 is on the optimistic side but possible. However would put UConn as a loss. To get there we will have to win 2 out of 3 between NMSU, Miami and EMU.
Be happy with 4-8 and really happy if we can hand Jerry Kill a loss.
Not specific to this year, but our new Chancellor Javier Reyes took in a UMass Football practice today with our AD Ryan Bamford.
In his tweeter lists Dallas Cowboy Fan so obviously likes football.

As expected,
@FBCoachDBrown
and Co had them working today. I like where we are headed!
We win on the road against JErry Kills team that went 7-6. Feels great and excited for UMass Football.
From UMass Football Blog
Quote: Well I was there and a lot of good things happened.
Taisun Phommachanh went 192 yards on 10-17 throws and added 96 yards rushing. That was the best offensive performance by a UMass QB in years. He seemed to get more comfortable as the game progressed.
We scored 28 points in the 4th quarter!
UMass scored 41 points!
The Minutemen averaged 7.2 yarrds/play. Almost double last year's stat.
The defense had 3 sacks and 1 important forced fumble.
The defense scored a TD and held the Aggies to 2-9 on third downs.
That was the best looking UMass team I have watched in years. Through most of the game, the offense and defense did not sit on the benches. Everyone was standing up urging thier teammate

Watched some of the NMSU game and gotta say you got a good QB there in Phommachanh. Big guy can run and throw. Hope to pick up some viewing time vs. Auburn too. UMass definitely a "good watch." Will absolutely check in for Miami-O, EMU and Toledo games,

Should be some good MACtion for those games. Next season 5 MAC games, but 4 on the road and 3 P5 teams with Missouri at McGuirk.
