Congratulations to Coach Brooks! Still a shame we couldn’t keep him but more than happy to see him achieve his dreams!

Couldn't happen to a better guy. He absolutely deserves it.

Kenny is arguably the best coach VT has ever had in any sport. They should pay him more before he gets poached. 04-cheers

Good for him. Money-wise I suppose we would never have reached that, so he did well making the move.

Amazing results for Kenny! Very proud of him and his teams for continuing to shine. I hope he has all of the success up until the Natty.

I don't really get it unless he just likes Lexington more. But maybe I'm just not as motivated by maximizing the $ amount as others. I can accept that I'm the one who's wrong.

RE: Kenny B
The SEC and Big 10 are really separating from the rest of D1 in terms of the amount of money they can offer both players and coaches. Kenny basically doubled his pay with the move to Kentucky.

RE: Kenny B
VT was probably going to get him a little over $1 mil while rumors have UK offering 2-2.5. Couple that with the uncertainty regarding the ACC, seems like an easy decision in some ways. Add to it that the fundraising for the Cassell Coliseum renovation is lagging behind and the admin seems more interested in dumping endless money into football at the expense of propping up basketball.

It may be that he feels VTs program has hit their ceiling. Their 3 time ACC player of the year is graduating. NIL is in full swing, and he may feel he can't take the program higher without the $$$$ other programs can offer the players. I'll always root for him.

Not that I'm that into women's hoops but I did keep up with his F4 run last year and begrudgingly rooted for them over LSU, solely because of Kenny. It will be much easier to root for him again now!

Seems to support your theory.

Tech fans are definitely not taking this well.

Where is the ACC conference/VA Tech going to be in 5-10 years? It could be as much about getting out of the ACC as about getting out of Blacksburg.

This is a good point. Tech is probably right on that cut line for the next round of expansion. You have to assume UNC, Duke, Florida State and Clemson will eventually be gobbled up by the B1G/SEC behemoth...but Tech (both GT and VT), UVA, NC State and maybe even Miami may find themselves on the outside looking in by the end of the decade, with things not looking too good for Louisville, Pitt, Wake, Syracuse and especially BC.

Duke over UVA? Doubt it.

UVA and UNC are better fits for the Big 10 (or whatever you want to call it).

Clemson and FSU are best fits for the SEC.

However, until the GOR for the ACC is dissolved I don’t see anything happening.
