Yep. Bob Richey is only 40 and he's 139–55 (.716) at Furman.

Once again, some of you are overestimating where USF basketball is right now. They could have reached out to guys like this and they would rather wait for better openings rather than going to USF and failing. Our track record hasn’t been good and a young upstart might not be willing to take that risk.
I think USF will end up either choosing an older coach like Brey or an assistant coach like Chris Capko frommUSC that has ties to the university. A really good head coach from a smaller school might balk at stopping their momentum by going to USF. As I said earlier in our entire history only two coaches have finished their career at .500 or above at USF
Lee Rose who came from Purdue and Seth Greenberg who finished 106-100. That would give pause to any young up and coming coach

I don't have a dog in the fight so I'll defer to you as a fan/alum. Let's face it, no matter where you go as a step up is a risk/reward decision. Look at the middlin' P5 jobs that come open [e.g., Georgia Tech, Oregon St., Rutgers, Vandy, DePaul, etc.] and these can become career "traps" as well. You never know what motivates a coach and there's only so many opportunities to move up. One thing that would seem favorable for USF is the location to sell recruits on. I have no clue on USF's facilities so I'll defer again. I just don't think you should limit younger, successful coaches because USF doesn't have a recent track record of success. Doesn't seem USF wants Brey and I think that is a wise decision.

I’m not making the hire, so not going to stress on it. Whether is an old HC, assistant or smaller program HC is a gamble on how they would do. USF has good facilities in Yuengling Center and the attached practice facility. Problem is that Florida is really not a basketball state. Yes you will get sporadic success of some programs but, you are not going to be packing in 15k+ like you see in other states, even in programs like UF and FSU. There isn’t a ton of basketball recruits as it is in football and most leave 5he state.
As I said earlier if whoever we get, leads USF to being .500 consistently and we go to NIT or Tournament once every four/ five years, that would be success.
