RE: Head Coach Savage
Per hoopdirt.com
I have heard that New Orleans assistant coach Kris Arkenberg is on the move, and will end up on the staff at ETSU. Arkenberg has been at been at UNO since 2011. One more move coming as well at New Orleans. Stay tuned for that one.

Source: East Tennessee State's Brooks Savage will hire New Orleans' Kris Arkenberg as an assistant coach. Savage will also retain Joe Hugley as an assistant.

New Orleans BB Message Board is all aflutter as their school president has resigned while enrollment is shrinking and the school apparently facing a large deficit. Possibly, part of the reason why Coach Arkenberg may be seeking other opportunities.

RE: Head Coach Savage
It remains to be seen how well Savage can integrate Forbes's folksy "Burger King All-Americans" strategy. He's certainly seen it in action enough, but that's not the same as projecting it successfully. Not that that's the only way to skin a cat. One wonders if Forbes will share his "second tier" possible recruits with Savage. Who knows? Savage already has knowledge of them at this point in time, so it may not matter at the moment. I mostly mean into the future.

That's sad news for UNO. It hasn't been that long at all since they had a great program.

Thanks to Coach Hugley for not also losing these five:

“We’re moving forward with guys that want to be here and want to be part of this,” he said.

That means Savage, who spent the past three years at Wake Forest working under Steve Forbes, began his ETSU tenure with five players — forwards Josh Taylor, Jaden Seymour and Braden Ilic as well as guards Allen Strothers and Justice Smith.

Jeff Goodman is reporting that Coach Savage has added another assistant coach. Brian Jones - an assistant at Bradley most recently.

This will have to be one of the youngest staffs anywhere in the country.

The jc press article did say Tisdale would be in a "Player Development role" which makes me think he won't be one of the 3 main assistants, unless I am interpreting that term wrong.

Apparently, the noise I'm hearing is that Tisdale's appt. is pending his graduation(?) and completing classes. Still happening, I think, but time frame sketchy.

Quoting from a Facebook post yesterday by Steve Forbes:

"BJ McKie and I recruited and signed Isaiah “Pun” Tisdale in the Spring of 2018. I told Coach McKie as we walked out the home of William and Loretta Tisdale in Lexington, Kentucky on a Saturday in April, that their son was our most important recruit regarding winning and leading by doing things the right way, on and off the court. I’m not always right, but I was about “Pun”. He helped us win 24 games his junior year and a school record 30 wins his senior year. He was named the MVP of the SoCon Tourney before COVID shutdown college basketball and rest of the country. COVID cheated him and his teammates the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament and the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive their college degree. Yesterday, “Pun” walked across the stage at Wake Forest and received his master’s degree. I love him and his parents. They raised a remarkable young man. He did an incredible job as our GA the past 2 years, and he’s now headed back to his alma mater ETSU to continue his coaching career working for Brooks Savage and alongside his former ETSU teammate Joe Hugley. It will be very strange when I walk into the gym this June to begin a new journey and not see Daivien Williamson, Isaiah Tisdale, and Joe Hugley, all 3 are extraordinary young men who have been a huge part of my life and will remain so forever."
