Coach Simon
It appears he's heading to BGSU.

Thoughts?

Hate it for SUU but good for him. Every good coach deserves to get paid.

RE: Coach Simon
He'll have his work cut out for him. BG is currently a train wreck. 2 players already in the portal and more will likely follow...of course that may be a good thing. The whole thing needs blown up.

It will be a good place for him though, not much pressure and there's a nice bank account from a passionate donor that was left to fund his salary.

Oh, wow. I was just learning about him yesterday when checking out SUU as UNA's opponent in the CBI. Will he coach in Daytona?

With his resume there, I'm not surprised. I was actually bragging about him on our UNA message board about how he'd totally taken the Thunderbirds from the bottom of the Big Sky to winning the regular season.

The only WAC program that pays their coach enough to keep him around awhile is GCU. The rest of the WAC can be poached of their coaches at any time; by other mid-majors or higher... Mark Pope to BYU... Joe Golding to UTEP... Chris Jans to Mississippi State... Todd Simon to Bowling Green?

Per Twitter, Coach Simon will not be coaching in Daytona. Assistant Coach Flynn Canyon will coach and will be a candidate for HC.

RE: Coach Simon
I’d say it’s good for the pocket book, but bad for the resume. I think he’s got a much better situation in CC, but money definitely talks. I don’t see how he’s going to get the same level of players he has at SUU to come to Bowling Green, though.

If I ever knew that Jim Larranga was at Bowling Green, it must have completely slipped my mind because that surprised me when I was saw him listed as a former coach.

With the portal, you can get kids to go just about anywhere...and he's coming back close to home. If he can turn around the BG program...and do it quickly...he'll be in a much better place for an even bigger payday.

Jimmy L was a great coach, even at BG. Nice to see him getting all the accolades he deserves.
