Hockey East Quarterfinals
#15 NU saw their season come to an end after losing to Providence 2-1 in OT at Matthews Arena. Coming into the game, NU’s Pairwise ranking was 18 and as we know you must finish in the top 16 (unless you get an automatic bid) to get into the tournament.

Pairwise is used since there isn’t a Selection Committee for college hockey.

The disappointing thing is not seeing Devon Levi and this team return to the NCAA Tournament after last years OT loss to Western Michigan. The bottom line is this team underachieved. A weak non-conference schedule and a terrible month of December, cost this team in the end.

So Levi will likely sign with Buffalo, as will McDonough (Vancouver) and Struble (Montreal). We do have another good goalie coming in to start next season in Vegas 3rd Rd pick Cam Whitehead and another stud defenseman in San Jose 4th Rd pick Michael Fisher.

Highlights…

Freshman Cam Lund gave NU the early 1-0 lead in the 1st period…
