Had to be done. There was really no reason to think any subsequent seasons were going to be any better.

I'd prefer we go the head coach route this time even if it's D2. There's nothing more overrated than having a coach with experience in a major conference.

It'll be interesting to see if SBC teams moving on from a basketball coach, men's or women's, bump the pay up for the next one. Gill has talked plenty about an emphasis on hoops, the media money sure sounds like a pretty significant increase, and the league already saw quite a bit of improvement both from old members and the new additions.

Kennesaw’s Amir Abdur-Rahim. He obviously will have larger programs calling him and there’s no real reason he would be interested in a rebuild job in Statesboro, but it’s at least worth a phone call. KSU is paying that man in pennies. Brian Burg was making more at GS to finish in 10th place.

With the new Arena beginning construction soon it'll be interesting if they try to help the new coach out with a little more recruiting funds and maybe NIL. Guess I'm renewing my booster membership.

No. We typically fire coaches pretty quick. IMO.
Basically you have at most 4 years to prove something or your out. If you really screw up then it could just one year.

Cliff is the only one running on his own accord. With his security you would really think this guy has taken Coastal to a couple Final Fours or something. This is really insane...

Mike Balado has also been allowed to hang around too long.

Kind of surprised GS pulled the trigger this year. I would have thought one more year but hey I get it. Go get someone to continue upping the level of the conference.

I wasn’t going to say that, lol. But at least there’s a reason what with the lack of state support and also at the local level for ulm. Looks like that’s changing though.

ETA: to clarify I meant changing for the better at the local level. It can’t get much worse on the state level, and it sure as hell won’t get better.

Yes. Wood Selig would have secretly given him a 2 year extension and not told anyone. Then later use that very extension as the reason why we cant get rid of him.
