It is Game# 2. Toledo already beat Miami in game #1 by a score of 91-75.

Ball St and Ohio are the 4/5 seed and only one game separates them in the standings. Not much of an upset. Other than the current score that is.

Boals is a phenomenal coach! Lewis in his first season took Ball St to 20 wins! Not A huge upset though!

Definitely not an upset. But winning by 20 points was a surprise. Otherwise, no other surprises in the quarter final. Who are you expecting or hoping for in the semis?

I would like to see Toledo win it! Tod K has been the head coach for 13 seasons at Toledo, and this is his 6th time winning the MAC regular season. But, Toledo hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1980. Go Rockets

I can't dispute Boal's record, but I have not seen a bigger "whiner" in my lifetime. This guy does not coach players, he coaches referees.

I've was in UTs arena recently. They have a ton of banners hanging from the rafters. Funny thing is though, I cannot recall them going to the NCAAs in forever.

What's really sad is both Toledo and Kent St are NCAA tournament teams, but unfortunately only one MAC team will make it! One will finish 28-6, and the other 27-7! Kent St lost to #1 ranked Houston by 5 points! Toledo is trying to do something very special for A university, they won the MAC football championship, and both their men's and women's basketball teams are hoping to go dancing today! Someday hopefully EMU can be in a similar situation.

Shocking to say the least, considering that Oats has proven to be incredibly successful elsewhere. Five years ago, the MAC was full of low energy, long tenured coaches, Whitesell would have been a giant then.

Hurley built it; Oats maintained it, but Whitesell squandered it.

Years ago there was a book, "From Good to Great." UB has gone from "From Great to Good."

I think it was obvious that Whitesell wasn't the excellent coach UB had gotten accustomed.

Indeed. Both good teams even though Kent St pulled away a little in the last “quarter”. Really enjoyed watching the game, and both teams would represent the MAC well on the NCAA tourney.

I do think EMU should have been more competitive then they were, but clearly their talent level is not what Toledo and Kent St have on their teams.

Todd K needs to realize that a bench is needed to win a conference tourney. 3 games in 3 days are too much for a starting five that logs a bunch of minutes.

Jerry, I completely agree! But when any team shoots 70% in a half, and scores 55 points you almost always lose! Kent State simply couldn't miss! I feel bad for Toledo, 6 MAC regular season championships, and ZERO NCAA tournaments........Toledo also deserves A NCAA tournament bid, but it won't happen! Both Kent St, and Toledo could win a tournament game.
