There's a lot of validity to this viewpoint as we do not have the same attrition numbers due to graduation or transfers so far as other MAC schools. But can they learn to play defense?

Just watching that Carson Cooper playing for MSU this season. A very fluid big man with a nice future. He was ready to sign with EMU until MSU swooped in at the last minute.

Yes I remember when we offered him we were the first school to do so and I said he ran the floor very well for a big man.

I agree. I think we all expected a little too much out of many inexperienced players. They’ll develop with experience, especially when they aren’t playing out of position anymore, in the case of guys like Geeter and Billingsley. There are important holes that need to be addressed, but I’d love it if a majority of our rotation came back.

I agree with the sentiment we want everyone back. Particularly the frontcourt where players often (not all) see a growth lag. Randle and Legend both played in their first college games ever this year- I am sure they learned a lot about what they need to work on in the off season. Jihad and Billingsley still I felt like I saw growth and development from over the course of the season. Golson is a bit of a disappointment as this was his third year and I don’t feel we saw much growth from him either from year-over-year or during the season but not writing him off yet either.

If just a couple of those guys have an off season spurt in development to go along with a solid back court trio of Noah, TyCuff, and Lovejoy, EMU “could” have a full team. Ideally we get a shot blocking and rebounding big man in the middle to let these guys be primarily forwards- but not sure we can expect that.

Just checked, no one from EMU in the transfer portal still according to VerbalCommits.

CMU continues to be an interesting story. I can’t imagine what was so bad about that program to cause such an exodus??? Zarzuela is in the transfer portal now (I believe it was just Bass and some lesser players before? Not sure). Kevin Miller is transferring to Wake Forest.

Perhaps this is not all about player preference. Remember Murph's 2018-19 team when a lot of guys transferred out shortly thereafter? Stephens, Peterson, Ellison, Jones, McAdoo and Silver.

Good move for the young man. He has very good shooting and passing skills, just not as athletic as Noah, Acuff, Lovejoy or Rice who have the same term of eligibility left.

Deadline for early entry NBA draft is April 23.

Will be interesting to see what players from mid and high majors that had stellar runs in the NCAA tournament and have catapulted themselves into draft discussion and displaced others out of it. For example, was Marquis Nowell on the NBA draft radar before the tournament? He had amazing stats of 24 ppg and amazing 14 assists per game. Are you telling me the so called NBA experts couldn’t pinpoint his play during the regular season? Just goes to show everyone that these are the same experts who anointed players 4 and 5 stars without really knowing talent. until a players name is called, he’s taking a risk if he’s not drafted. Although the NCAA has finally wised up to minimize player risk:

Unless Keyon Menifield is coming? Maybe Orlando did not like Coach Heath recruiting pgs when he’s slated to be the starter??

If that's the case then it's a good example of how weak the young generation can be. If things aren't perfect, just find a greener pasture...then find out that that it was maybe better just to suck it up and stay.

OUCH! I was terrified that was going to happen.

At the end of the day, he was the ONLY player we had last year who exceeded expectations.

outside perspective on lovejoy. has the potential to be a good mid major defender and rebounder for his position. doesn't have any of the most important guard skills; no outside shot, not a true point guard, not a great 1 on 1 scorer. but he's competitive, active and shows the potential for a mid range and drive game. he can contribute but will also get recruited over at a solid MAC program as small guards are the easiest talent to find because it's the deepest pool.
